Today is my time to share family and loved ones. Deborah at,
Pictures, Pots and Pens, is our host for this fun event. Thank you Deborah for all the work involved in keeping up with the many others who love to share their family photos. Be sure to visit our blogging friends to share the family love.
Today I am sharing a special story about this precious family and their children. The story begins with my niece Judith. She was born deaf and has had a rough time because of this difficult handicap. She struggled for many years to get her education and eventually earned her Associates Degree after getting married and having three children. She found the love of her life in her thirties, married and had the last of her three children as she celebrated her fortieth birthday. Her husband is the sweetest man ever. He is a wonderful husband, father and he is profoundly deaf as well. He is educated, provides for his family very well and is loved and admired by our family. The children are amazing as they have learned to live with deaf parents. All three of the children can hear perfectly. From the time they were learning to talk they understood sign language and spoke 'perfectly' by listening to family and friends that could hear. Now for the photos...a normal family in every way except the children communicate by signing. They speak on the phone, answer the door and then relay the info by signing. They are 8, 6, and 4 years old.
My niece Judy and her hubby David, with their little boy's feet on his mommies lap. This photo was taken in the last two weeks.
My great niece Kayla, is making the salad for dinner. Her sister Lily is in the background. They are in their grandma's kitchen, (my sister).
My great niece Lily, assisting in making a cake. Company (my cousin and her hubby) are visiting my sister and my cousin took these photos. Every Friday night Judy and her family come home for dinner. It is a tradition.
Look at this little sleeping angel, my great nephew Casey. He is all action when awake. Listen to this story about Casey on how to make a child behave. We were at a family wedding and Casey was acting up. Judy gave him a stern look, made a few fast signs and Casey sat up and behaved in an instant. I call that the perfect silent treatment. These children do not get yelled at like hearing parents, only in sign language.
Here they are at Grandma's house. They are so like children everywhere, except they can communicate with anyone who is deaf or hearing perfectly. I adore them.
I hope you enjoyed this families special story. I am so proud of them, as is all of our family and friends.
Blessings and love...Jeanne

Hi Jeanne, it's me again. I just had to comment again on your beautiful blogs over the last week. Love Ben Stein (and love Glenn Beck, 5:00 PM on Fox). Love your posts about Beth - I wish I had known her. How wonderful your family is to have continued to love her as family - not all are so gracious, forgiving or giving. I'm happy to be home in the mountains. Love you, Linda

I am so blessed to belong to this incredible family. There has been a bond of love for them forever. They had the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen as Judy sang a love song to David in sign. it made him cry and so did we all as we could hear the words and music. Their theme for life is "Grow Old With Me The Best Is Yet To Be". and it is. Judy and David are the most perfect couple I know. So beautiful sis. Carmen

Hi Jeanne!
What a sweet family. My cousin dated a girl whose parents were deaf also. Their daughter now has a career in signing at functions and gets paid for it! Thanks for sharing their story!
Happy Easter!

Oh Jeanne Your family stories are always sooo very special. This is a family made with so much love. You can see it all over their faces.
It reminds me of Scott from American Idol. Have you been watching? He has tunnel vision and stayed on till last night. He has been an inspiration to all young and old with a handicap. I know my dad lost his legs in the war and never for one minute complained...ever.
Thanks for sharing this family with us.
Love and Happy Easter Jeanne.
Love Claudie

Sounds like those beautiful children are self-sufficient and competent to handle life and chores in their family. Your neice and her husband have created a lovely family!
I've always thought signing was such a beautiful language.

A very special family indeed. There was a family in my hometown that had the same situation. I think hearing and non-hearing parents have "The Look" whenever their children act up. Thank you for sharing this special family with us and have a blessed Easter.

They are all so beautiful and what a precious story. I LOVE watching people sign....we have a deaf driver where I work and it always fascinates me to watch him "talk".

What a lovely story about a precious family. Those kids have a great step up being able to communicate in sign language. And I love how the girls are helping in the kitchen...and they look happy to be there!

What a great family Jeanne. A long time ago I started learning sign language . A girl I worked with was deaf and she tried to teach all of us. It is a beautiful language of it's own.

Jeanne,
What a wonderful and touching story about an incredible family over coming so many odds. The children have to love and respect their parents dearly. It was heart warming to see them so responsible at such tender ages. They are a beautiful family:)
Thank You for sharing their story and may Heavenly Father continue to watch over them.
Enjoy a wonderful Easter.:-)
Love, Beth
