DO YOU LISTEN TO GOD?
Before refrigerators were invented, icehouses were used to preserve foods. These icehouses had thick walls, no windows, and a tightly fitted door. Large blocks of ice were obtained during the winter and covered with sawdust to prevent melting. This would allow the ice to last well into summer. One day a man lost his valuable watch while working in the icehouse. He and his fellow workers diligently searched for the valued time piece without success. A small boy heard of the problem and slipped into the icehouse. He soon emerged from the cold with the man's watch. The men were amazed and asked the boy how he found it. He said, "I closed thr door, laid down in the sawdust, and kept very still. Soon I heard the watch ticking." From the cool darkness of this dated icehouse comes the timeless reminder of...
Psalm 46:10: Be still and know that I am God.
A good lesson taken from a book entitled...
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Good thought, Jeanne. I often need to hold still and listen. Thanks for sharing. Happy Spiritual Sunday.

This post brought back memories. We had an ice box when I was in grade school. I remember it very well and the truck that came by delivering ice. I enjoyed watching the men grab a big chunk of ice with pick tongs, throw it on their shoulder and bring it in the house. There were always little pieces of ice that kids could get off of the trucks. I remember going to an ice house and buying ice there to bring home to make homemade ice cream. Ah, the good old days. However, I'd much rather have a refrigerator and freezer.
I like the illustration for listening for God. Thank you for sharing.
Have a blessed day.

When I was a little girl living in Dallas, I can remember Mom putting the ice card in the window that had how many lbs she wanted. (I have one..gotta blog about that sometime!!). We didn't have air conditioning back then, and she would get 2 blocks...one for the old wooden icebox that sit on our screened in back porch ...and one to put in a large wash tub and sit the fan behind the ice..we would sit in front of it until the ice melted. It felt so so good.
Hope your Sunday was a good one!
