They live in this Greek Revival/Victorian Home.
My Aunt Shirley has been an antique dealer for 40 plus years. For the past several years she has specialized in antique buttons. She gives antique buttons a whole new meaning. She drives a Cadillac which she named her 'Buttonmobile' and she paid for it with $10,000. dollars worth of antique buttons. That' right, I said $10,000. in buttons! You may think that is a lot of buttons and it is, but Aunt Shirley has been know to buy button collections for several thousand dollars. The buttons that bought the Cadillac is a drop in the bucket compared to her vast collection for sale and in her private collection.
More about my amazing Aunt and Uncle in another post.
NOW FOR THE BUTTONS
I have to say the photos I am sharing is only her private collection. She hangs her buttons in her dining room. WALL TO WALL! I have barely touched the surface with these few photos.
The God Bless Our Home is black glass and mother of pearl buttons
The cards are in frames and these buttons are all different styles. Next I will share a couple of button Pictures.
This Aunt Shirley's dining room. The button picture was made by a friend. The buttons are mother of pearl.
A closeup still doesn't show how beautiful they are.
These are glass buttons. The lady that was making this died before she finished this gorgeous button picture. These buttons are NEVER GLUED. They are tied individually.
These are commerative buttons for Mark Twain given to my aunt from a friend.
I hope you enjoyed this collection.

Jeanne I've never seen a collection like this. I have truly been fascinated reading your post and looking at the pictures. I know those antique buttons would have a lot of stories to tell of where they came from and how they were originally used. I would love to meet your Uncle Bill and Aunt Shirley and see her buttons in person. Their home looks lovely--perfect for an antiques dealer. From the looks of the picture with the china cabinet, Aunt Shirley also collects Hummels!

Wow Jeanne! That is amazing! I love the ones that look like floral bouquets.

These are absolutely beautiful! What creativity!
I loved my Mama's button box as a child. Mine today is much smaller, but I still love to check out (and sometimes buy) the cards of buttons that the volunteers put together at one of my favorite thrift stores.

This is unbelievable.....I have never seen anything like it....I am a member of Button Floozies and am going to like this post to that blog....if that is OK....this is too good not to show.....amazing is an understatement....

Unbelievable! Especially when you say that they are individually sewn! I have my mom's buttons which I always enjoyed sorting, and now added my own...The older the button the more beautiful!

I too was so facinated by your post about your incredible aunt! She puts a whole new spin on buttons. That was a tone fo buttons to buy her caddy but her art work is incredible. What a talented lady. Thanks for sharing this with us. I wish my mom was still her so I could show her.:)
Thank you for your visits although mine has been sparse.
Dad B moves tomorrow into an assisted living, NOT a day too soon! so I am packing and washing his things which have been piled in our garage and shampooing his furniture. he got a new Jazzie to ride and is trying to learn how to steer it. I sure hope he doesn't mow anyone down! LOL
Hugs sweet friend!

Hi Sweet Jeanne! This is a truly amazing collection!! It was such a delight to look through all of the designs, and that swirl is really something else! I think it is so cool how we can see history through collections of different objects. Somehow helps us feel connected to the past, huh?
Thanks so much for sharing this my friend! Always a joy to visit with you!
Love and hugs,

The most amazing collection I've ever seen....of anything! Love the ones that look like carved ivory.
And their beautiful blue house - stunning!
What a delightful looking couple.....you really have an amazing family Jeanne. I can't believe you are off to Atlanta now - thought you were up a ladder painting, just like Penny, and I was really getting concerned about the two of you! Want to see you in one piece in a couple of weeks. Don't overdo it dear - stay well and be careful.

I am so glad you showed all these fabulous button montages that your Aunt owns! They were all beautiful and so fascinating. I noticed in one photo that your Aunr also has a spectacular Hummel collection ..wow!
Your family is so talented and antiquing must be in your blood. I hope the move went well for your sisters this weekdn. You certainly get around yourself, young lady! LOL! Safe travels and thank you again!

Hello Jeanne! OMG, you never cease to amaze me with all of the interesting posts you come up with! This one totally enthralled me. I have a couple of vendor friends who make the most beautiful bracelets/watch bands from antique buttons!! I, too, have always had a fascination with those vintage buttons (and cuff links, too!), but my little collection pales in comparison to your aunt and uncles!!! OMG, I feel the pain of setting up those tents! Bonnie and I had four of them set up for our tag sale- - - NOT an easy task, even though the tents all said EZ UP on them! It took Bonnie, me and a really strong lad to put those puppies up! :)
Hope you enjoy your visit with your family. . . I KNOW you will have wonderful photos to share!!

Good morning, my dearest friend. I know you are going to busy, busy, busy today. I hope everything goes well for you three "girls". Please give them both my love. You know I would be no help because I would be to looking at all the pretties.
Aunt Shirley and Uncle Bill are quite special. I so enjoyed seeing some of their buttons. Maybe I need to go to Michigan with you some time. I can hardly pick a favorite set. I love the ivory, the black, the paperweights, the hand painted, ... Ah, heck! I love them all.
This post has enough color for any special day that might come along. So, Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Blue Monday.

These are amazing. What a collection! I came over here from Button Floozies via a post by Colorado Lady. Your aunt should charge admission for people to come look at her buttons. I would pay :)

Jeanne,
I came back because of your note in Lawn Tea, and cannot tell you how much I am enjoying this. May I write about it sometime, and post a link to this?---it's simply too good to miss.

The pink inside of the ears are simply felt (same as for the black lips). Inside, I still added a stripe of long, white fur, to make it look more natural.
