VINTAGE AND THRIFTY TREASURES
What could be better than that?
I am sharing a photo of my vintage desk but that isn't the focus of this post. The treasures ON my desk is what this post is all about.
I love the inlaid work on my desk. I used to sell antiques and this is a treasure I bought to keep. I have shared this before so lets move on to the next photos.
I moved these vintage vases to my desk from the entertainment center. They are more showy here. I love the birds and the color.
This gorgeous bisque magnolia is vintage and a thrift purchase at a flea market. I paid $2. It is from the 60's. It is so delicate I hate to pick it up.
This lamp is a yard sale purchase for $10. Not a huge bargain but I couldn't resist. The shade is the perfect color for my decor and it fits on my desk so well.
I almost never purchase anything new and I love to go thrifting and antiqueing.

SPOILED BERRY SYNDROME
I don't know about you but I LOVE summer berries. Maybe you think I am a bit early on this subject but we can buy berries all year and I hate to spend a fortune on berries only to find them spoiled almost overnight.
My cousin Christy from Michigan sent this to me and I can't wait to test it.

THE KEY TO PREVENTING MOLDY BERRIES
Berries are delicious, but they're also kind of delicate. Raspberries in particular seem like they can mold before you even get them home from the market. There's nothing more tragic than paying $4 for a pint of local raspberries, only to look in the fridge the next day and find that fuzzy mold growing on their insides. Well, we can tell you that how to keep them fresh! Here is a tip I am sharing on how to prevent them from getting there in the first place:
Wash them with vinegar.
When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them.

In the winter I bring my favorite plants inside so they don't freeze. The fern I am sharing today sits on a vintage plant stand that I have had for many years. The beauty of it is almost lost in the fern's foilege. I tried to take some photos without removing the heavy fern. I think you can see it pretty well.
The chair was a bargain for $5. I have two of them. That is another post. Smile.
I love the detail.
My fern needs some sunshine and Miracle Grow. Spring can't come too soon for me.

Are you ready?
Ten days ago my husband gave me this Valentines gift. It was delivered by UPS. He was so excited about it and it was just a can about the size of coke. He insisted I follow the instructions "imediately" Nature's Greeting is a plant and the instructions said to water the contents and then wait 7 to 10 days for a plant to appear like a miracle on Valentines Day. Look closely and you will see a little bulb that is breaking the surface. It looks like a little roach. HA! He is devastated because it was supposed to have leaves. This is the 'HA' part. It is supposed to dance to music.
The results will be monitered closely and I will share it with you.

After bowling we are celebrating Valentine's Day at Cafe Rel. A romantic dinner in a French restaruant with the most delicious food on the planet.

The Girlfriends' Dinner
A group of 15-year-old girlfriends discussed where to meet for dinner.
Finally, they agreed to meet at the Dairy Queen next to the Ocean View
restaurant because they had only $6.00 among them and Jimmy Johnson, the
cute boy in Social Studies, lived on that street.
10 years later, the group of 25-year-old girlfriends discussed where to
meet for dinner. Finally, they agreed to meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because the beer was cheap, the restaurant offered free
snacks, the band was good, there was no cover and there were lots of
cute guys.
10 years later, the group of 35-year-old girlfriends discussed where to
meet for dinner. Finally, they agreed to meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because the cosmos were good, it was right near the gym and,
if they went late enough, there wouldn't be too many whiny little kids.

restaurant because the martinis were big and the waiters had tight pants
and nice buns.

restaurant because the lighting was good and the restaurant had an early
bird special.
10 years later, the group of 75-years-old girlfriends discussed where to
meet for dinner. Finally, they agreed to meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because the food wasn’t too spicy and the restaurant was
handicapped-accessible.
10 years later, the group of 85-years-old girlfriends discussed where to
meet for dinner. Finally, they agreed to meet at the Ocean View
restaurant because they had never been there before.
