SPOILED BERRY SYNDROME
I don't know about you but I LOVE summer berries. Maybe you think I am a bit early on this subject but we can buy berries all year and I hate to spend a fortune on berries only to find them spoiled almost overnight.
My cousin Christy from Michigan sent this to me and I can't wait to test it.

THE KEY TO PREVENTING MOLDY BERRIES
Berries are delicious, but they're also kind of delicate. Raspberries in particular seem like they can mold before you even get them home from the market. There's nothing more tragic than paying $4 for a pint of local raspberries, only to look in the fridge the next day and find that fuzzy mold growing on their insides. Well, we can tell you that how to keep them fresh! Here is a tip I am sharing on how to prevent them from getting there in the first place:
Wash them with vinegar.
When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them.
You're so berry welcome!
Have a berry nice day.
Love,
JEANNE

That's a great tip...it really is maddening to have your pricey berries mold right away!
The first week of June will be interesting!! :) We celebrate 2 birthdays and our anniversary during that time....plus I'm in a run on Jun.2 (I think) :) Let me know the exact block of dates (via email) so I can make plans!!! There will always be time for YOU...plus, if you're here on the 2nd, that's the Strawberry Festival at the Vaille Mansion...flea market!! :)
Have a Wonderful Wednesday. It's gonna be in the 60s here today!!! BUT it goes down hill after that.

You always come up with the "mom" things to do. I will surely try the vinegar trick. Sometimes the berries don't last that long around here... but if they do I'll know why, lol.....
Nice and sunny and 40 today. I'm jumping in the shower and getting the heck out of here today. My day all to myself... VV for sure. If I'm going to Vancouver you bet I need to find some cool clothes.
I know Julie and I will be thrifting and vintage shopping and I really should just show up with a pair of P.J.'s, but I'll need a couple outfits that actually fit. I've still hung on to that 6 lbs. Doesn't want to leave, but I feel good, just not in my tight clothes, lol.
Ok on my way to get wet.
Hope you are having fun at bridge and your kicking their sweet asses. I bet Audrey helped you today ; )

OKAY! I always debate between "don't get them wet" and "try to get off any mold or bad spots you can't even SEE yet."
I've still got two gallons of scuppernongs in the freezer---I DID wash those, for I like to dump them right into the cooking pot frozen---for making jelly, and I'd better get it done before the really warm weather starts.
Hope you're staying well and warm.
love and,
rachel

What a great tip!! I've lived in Florida almost all my life and that's the first time I've heard this. Can't wait to try it on our strawberries.

WHO KNEW...certainly not me.
I am going to do that for sure...cause, depending on the size of berries I buy, I hate it when they go moldy.
Rasberries are my fav.
Strawberries are actually my LEAST favorite.
When I lived in British Columbia, we use to pick blackberries to our hearts content...grew wild everywhere. Big thorny bushes though, so needed to wear long sleeves in order to really "dig in there".
Thanks for the info.Mucho-hugs today.
