EXTREMELY INTERESTING!!!!!


Whether you're a bird person or not, this is stunning!!!  Not to detract from the sheer magic of it, but in practical terms, how MANY trips would a bird have to make with that tiny little quantity of mud/clay it could carry?  (and how far from the nest is the source?)

If you take the construction of a circular bowl in your stride as instinctive how the heck does the bird come up with the windbreak/entrance design that shields the eggs/chicks from the elements and at what point in fashioning the bowl do they start to construct it?

I have shared a few photos in past weeks on the "Master Garden Mountain Tour' where I live. We visited seven gardens and I have a lot of photos.  I picked a few more to share today that all have a bit of blue.

This and all the photos were taken in the gardens of seven different homes.  Pretty garden wall and a bit of blue sky.

I have always admired these pots but I do not have one.  Love the blue in this pic.

 

This faded cow has so much charm on the cabin wall outside.  People lived in this cabin.

I am sharing my new lamp purchased at the auction.  It matches my hand painted new buffet so nice.  The lamp has different floweres hand painted. on each side.  I bid higher then I wanted but it was just $25.00.  A bargain for this beauty.  The light is 3 way and it brightens up a dark space perfectly.

I love the way it matches my new piece of furniture.

MY PORCH MAKEOVER

It has been awhile since I bought new cushions for my porch but I haven't shared it with you.  Summer is fading fast here in the mountains so I thought I better share before fall and winter arrives.

My cushions are faded and worn so I decided to make a change for something more colorful.

AFTER...

 

Much brighter.  Disregard a couple of coffee cups.  We were enjoing the great outdoors and having our coffee as well.

Blackeyed Susans from my garden.

 

The pansies were nearly dead after the winter and some Miracle Grow and tender loving care brought them back. a miracle to me. HA!

 

Lovely parsley at a moments notice.  Easy to grow and I don't throw half of it away from the grocery store.  Do you do that?

THE BILTMORE WAS OUR DESTINATION TODAY

Bobbie and I had a wonderful day at the Biltmore.  I am sharing some pics that I found on Google.  I have not had time to get my photos ready.  Pink is always a big color in the Biltmore Gardens.

MY FRIEND BOBBIE AND ME

 

TODAY IS THE DAY

My dear friend Bobbie is coming to see me.  We have been friends for 53 years. I moved several times in all these years and so has she but we always stayed in touch with each other.

Here we are several years ago.

We are dear forever friends.

We are leaving for Atlanta to pick her up today. 

Bobbie now at age 72 and still as beautiful as ever,

We met when we were 19 years old.

She has never been to our mountain home so you can imaging how excited I am to see her.  We will definitely visit the Biltmore in Asheville.

I am so lucky that my sister Carmen is treating me to a wonderful trip to Knoxville to listen to Christian Speakers Beth Moore and Travis Cottrell.

MOUNTAIN GARDEN FOR OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY

GARDEN TOUR IN CATTALOOCHE, NC

Many of you know I belong to the Franklin Garden Club in NC.  Several of our members went on a mountain garden tour and this is one of the homes we toured.  The homes were private gardens and it was a beautiful home right in the ski area at Cattalooche, NC.

We had a wonderful time viewing this wonderful home and garden

This was taken on the front porch.

The rest of these photos are the surrounding gardens and the barn as well as the home.

 

 

 

 

These double doors were made by the owner. They were beautiful.

 

This home was very old.  The logs were chinked many years ago.

The owner passed away but his wife still lives there.  We met her that day.

 

 

 

The owner also made this bench'

 

 

 

Some handmade wooden dolls or folk art.
