CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN EUROPE
The Christmas markets were in every town along the Rhine. Literally hundreds of them. I took a few photos but it was hard to capture the multitude and the sheer fun of seeing so many lovely things to buy. Many of them also served food. The decorated booths were festive and sometimes very elaborate.
Many of them had lovely arched entries and this one was very striking.
The decorations were charming and this one caught my eye
Many of them served food and this booth was enticing enough for us to buy a brat for lunch. Delicious!
You can see the crowds were everywhere, Christmas shopping with happy faces. Well the guy bottom left looks a bit unhappy. Mostly people were polite and enjoying the markets as much as we did.
Lots to buy.
Lots of handmade items were for sale.
Polish pottery in this booth was very tempting but very expensive.
Last I wanted to share this sidewalk that had arched stained glass lined up on both sides of the walkway. We were on our way to the Christmas Markets when this captured our attention. It is a shame I couldn't share some closeups. We walked this sidewalk and the arches were beautiful and all hand done which looked like they may have been done by children. It was not real stained glass.
Happy Blue Monday.
I hope you enjoyed just the smallest part of the many Christmas markets we visited on our trip down the Rhine River in Europe,
Blessings and love,
JEANNE

Jeanne, you did a good job of capturing the stop on the Rhine. I'll bet lunch was tasty. Happy Blue Monday!

I remember buying brats in Germany and ofcourse they were the best I had ever had. The arches are so unique, the handmade booth really caught my eye. Did you buy any? Happy Monday and MLK day.

Hi Jeanne *hugs*
BEAUTIFUL pictures! Oh how I wish I could have been there shopping for those handmade Christmas decorations. They are just so lovely. Something like we have in Finland actually. Did you buy any of them? The Polish pottery is lovely too. Too bad it was expensive... :o( the colours are so beautiful.
Brats...I thought that was the neatest cooking arrangement. The food must have been devine. Wonder if you tried something you've never tasted before....
That was a great way to spend Christmas this year..or last year...seeing how other countries celebrate. Good thing you took so many memorable pictures!
hope you've had a good week so far...
have a great evening..

Hi Jeanne I"m here, I'm here
I've seen a few of your pictures. What a trip!!! How wonderful to be able to cruise on such a beauty of a ship. The Xmas markets are fabulous. I've never been to the markets but I'm sure my suitcase would NEVER be big enough.
I haven't heard about all your treasures though. Oops... WAIT, I just received the prettiest pill container from the Netherlands. Thank you for thinking of my dad Jeanne. The poppies and the dates really hit home. How did you know I needed such a treasure?? Oh wait. I had an operation like no other, HA!! Did you buy a lot of stuff? I'll hopefully be seeing all the goodies in April.
Come on April.
