Beverly, at How Sweet the Sound, is hosting Pink Saturday for the most fun Blog Party of the week. Thank you Beverly for your dedication to Pink Saturday. All you pinkies out there listen up. Visiting has slowed down and I am including myself...so lets get back on track and visit more. I am making a promise to visit at least 30 pinkies this week.

RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR
We invited family for New Years day to celebrate 2013. We had 13 for dinner and the five sisters were together. We took our usual photo of the five.
Diane, me, Caralie, Carmen (wearing our mother's dress) and Jane Anne.
Our mother passed away 28 years ago and she still had this dress that my mother made.
You could say our mother was with us in spirit. It was very nostalgic to say the least.
Thank you for the surprise Carmen.
A wonderful ringing in of 2013.
The table didn't have the flatware yet. We also had a card table so we could seat 13 of us.
Centerpiece. I made the numbers out of pipe cleaners.
A grand time was had by all. We did have black eyed peas and collard greens plus pork tenderloin etc. Great food and wine with homemade trippleberry pie and icecream.

PINK IS BIG IN EUROPE TOO
Whereever we were in the many towns along the Rhine I saw pink buildings. As we followed our tour guide on walks through the towns I snapped photos of several pink homes and businesses. I admit that I really did not take good photos. I was always rushed to keep up with our guide and a quick shot was the best I could do. However, I think you will enjoy these photos anyway.
This was one of my favorites. Painted art on the building was a standout.
I think this was an apt. building. The grass was still green in many of the towns. It was cold but not freezng.
I do not know what this building was. It had bars on the windows. The doorway is stunning.
This pink around the windows on the left was a surprise. You probably realize it was the building decorated with all the wood was my focus with this photo. This type of decorating was very common and I admired it so much.
This was a privare school if I remember correctly.
I'm not sure what this building was for sure but I think it was a business.
This is a government building and it was stunning. I couldn't get the whole building so I focused on the top because it was so beautiful. Look close at all of the statues between the windows and on the edges of the top. The archtecture in Europe is amazing.
This last photo doesn't have any pink but it was so interesting. Especially the roof.
All of the dormers on the roof still boggles my mind. My sister told me it is the maids quarters. The higher the dormers the lower ranked job description. Interesting.
I apologise for these angles and out of balance pics. I had to shoot these photos while walking fast. Our guide talked fast and walked fast. Her name was Hannah and she was adorable. She shared some amazing history of each town we visited. Much of the history went back to the 13th century. I think the history of these towns and cities was the most impressive memory I have of Europe along the Rhine.
Happy Pink Saturday
Love,
JEANNE

Your sisters picture is wonderful! I LOVE it that Carmen was wearing a dress your mom had made! OMG. . .how precious is that?
Your trip pictures are such a treat! I love those amazing old structures and their architectual composition! They just don't make em like that anymore! :) I can imagine you trying to keep up with a fast talking and walking tour guide! :) Actaully, you did a really great job to capture the moments and recall the details! I'm not so whippy at that these days!
I just spent FOUR hours making a "smash cake" for my 1 yr. old gr. boy's birthday party tomorrow. It is HORRIBLE looking. I just keep telling myself that he will think it's wonderful because it's all his to SMASH!!
Gotta hit the hay! I have to rise and shine early to wrap gifts, pack the cake, then head out to help with the party! :)
SO thrilled that you had such a wonderful trip!!!!!! L, Dana

Great pics from your sisters and you, and great captures of the buildings.
But as for your title, since I'm European - it depends on when and you you ask about pink. When it's in vogue -yes, everyone dressed up to date will wear pink. But the buildings are not the most modern ones, and it depends in which country you are - in Holland orange, blue and brown are much used. I didn't own anything pink till I had lived in the USA for over 15 years!
