One of my favorite days is Tuesday with Diane at, A Picture is Worth a 1000 Words. She is our host for 2nd Time Around Tuesday. If you love makeovers and new places and uses for old things, visit Diane's blog for more 2nd time around treasures.
My post today is all about an antique pie crust table. I inherited a pie crust table over 50 years ago and I think you might like the story about my table. First a photo of a pie crust table, which is in the tilt top position. It is also known as a 'tea table.'
This is not my table. I wanted to show you what a pie crust table looks like. Now for 'my' table.
Do you see a pie crust table in this photo?
Let me tell you about this table. The pie crust table top was broken beyond repair from a move. My father took the table and surprised me with this beautiful table top made from mother of pearl, gold crushed stone and after the design was made, filled in with a special resin. It has a stained glass effect. It is a treasure that I love. He gave the table back to me when Bill and I were married. I was so shocked and pleased. I never expected to see this table again. I forgot to mention that the top was handmade by my dad and mom, with love.
This photo shows the tilt position. These tables were also called tea tables. After tea was finished it could be tilted to be out of the way.
A side view to show you what it looks like when put in this position. it really is very slim and takes up very little space.
I hope you enjoyed a little table history and my 2nd time around subject for today's event.
TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS...
One thing about the speed of light...
it gets here too early in the morning.
Love...Jeanne

Wow, I've never seen anything like the pie table. I like your table more, and especially with the sentimental value.

I love that story and think of them often. It always makes me smile when I think of all the different business ideas grandpa had. I wish I could still tell them what I am doing and hear the stories and jokes they loved to tell. I loved to watch grandpa drive grandma crazy when he would over bid his hand in bridge and then find a way to make it work. I miss the hard work and the farm at the lake. I miss them.......and always will....Brett
