Today is Thingie Thursday and our host Suzanne at, ColoradoLady, gave us a theme...What was I thinking? It is midnight and I told Suzanne I was going to join in today and Now I am wondering 'What was I thinking? I am going to go to my files and find something to post that is appropriate for her theme. See you in a bit...I'm back, it didn't take long.
Do you ever take photographs of things and you think it might make a good post.? Somehow the right day just doesn't happen. Well I did just that and these purchases are the perfect...What was I thinking? It took me all of ten minutes to find these strange little 'expensive' things in my never shown file. I bet at a glance you think these were a thrift store find. Wrong! Striker girl one, cost $100. and striker girl with frog, cost $75. What was I thinking? I bought these several years ago in a little antique shop in MI. I was in the business of selling antiques and I liked these crazy little girls. They are strikers and very collectible so I had big ideas of making a profit on these very unusual strikers. A striker is something that holds matches and there is a ridged place where you can strike the match. These are Austrian and very old. Guess what, no one wanted them bad enough to pay the price and since I do not like losing money, I kept them. LOL. We dealers always say, " Well, if some one doesn't want to pay my price, I love them and I'll keep them myself." I DON'T love them. I do believe in my antique dealer mind that someone will want them and pay a big price on Ebay. I think I am dreaming. What was I thinking???
Be sure and visit Suzanne for more 'What was I thinking' items to see. I am hoping someone else will make me look a whole lot smarter with a purchase much sillier than mine. I could use a laugh.

Well, it's not going to be me that gives you that laugh. They definitely aren't my "cup of tea", but don't worry because I agree that there is someone out "there" that will love them. Now, you just have to find that someone.
Love you.

Very informative post. I love learning but it's always more fun when the teacher is so witty! I'm not a striker fan. Good luck on finding that special collector. Ruby

Gosh girl I have never heard of such things! My grandparents had the old tin match holders that you just hang on the wall by the cook stove and slide the old big Diamond match box in....course they wouldn't had no use for the fancy little cigar hold part anyway...they was snuff users...I use to want to spit snuff when I was a little girl so my cousin and I went to her grandmother, Mama Elsie, and she made us our own snuff with cocoa powder and sugar...man I was in high cotton...you should have seen me spit! That is until mama found out! lol lol You did want me to share that with you didn't you...us being friends and all!
lol Have a great Mother's Day weekend sweetie!!! ~♥~
