Talk about the GREAT OUTDOORS. Travel out West to the majestic Rocky Mountains and the great outdoors takes on a whole new meaning. Thanks to Susan at, A Southern Daydreamer, I can share my wildlife photos with my blogging friends who share their love of nature and lifes adventures outdoors. These photos were taken at Yellowstone National Park. It took about 7 hours of driving through the huge park for two days to capture these wonderful animals. It was thriling to say the least. Some of the photos are great and some were so difficult to shoot, they aren't so good. I hope you enjoy them anyway. You can be sure we will be on the hunt tomorrow to improve the less then the best ones. We are loving it!!!
Oh, this buffalo is Sooooo mean looking. I wonder if he is the daddy of this...
What a cute baby following his mama. One of the not so best photos, but totally irresistible.
You don't see these guys resting very much.
They must be tired.
The heads on these guys are HUGE.
These guys are cute but shaggy. They are loosing their winter coats. Goats are always curious and easy to photograph.
I love this photo. What a handsome fellow.
I didn't know that Bill took this shot.
This is my photo of the goat I was taking when Bill took the photo above.
A little chipmunk.

Elk crossing...Not really, but they decided to cross the road right in front of us.
I did get a pretty good closeup of this one. They too, are loosing their winter coats.
This elk buck was off by himself, a long ways from the herd. His antlers will be much bigger then they are now. At this stage of growth, they are fur like and that will change when they are full grown.
We are pretty sure this is a Pronghorn antelope. They do live in the park but are rarely seen. This one was so far away, we used a long lens and barely caught him on camera. A not so good shot but exciting anyway.
These are deer. If you compare them with the elk, the deer have white legs instead of brown and their noses are more narrow. There were about 7 or eight deer in this area.
A mama big horned sheep and her baby. You can barely see the baby and it is just a few hours old. The mama is watching her baby intently. This photo was taken right by the road from our car. Amazing!!!
Another shot of the mama looking toward the road where several cars and people were stopping to see what was happening. We just happened to be driving by as a ranger drove up and chased everyone away. He was very angry that people were out of their cars and way too close to the sheep and her new baby. The park rule is you can't be closer than 25 feet from any animal. We took our photos from the car and did not violate any rules. I think one guy was ticketed.
A little chipmunk.
This photo was taken by Bill in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. He insisted I share this with you. Have you figured it out yet? It is four mallard ducks with their heads under water in unison. He thinks this is the funniest picture he has ever taken. What do you think? Laughing here.
Thank you for your visits and comments. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.
Love...Jeanne
Note: Thank you to those of you who came back for the additional photos we added to the wildlife post. We liked putting them all in one post.

So, that is where the deer and the antelope roam. Just kidding; I couldn't resist. ;-)
The photos are magnificent. Are you using a telephoto in most of these? I was just wondering how close you are to the animals.
Be sure to tell Bill that his picture made me laugh.
Love to you both.

Hi Mom,
I love the photos. I couldn't figure out dad's photo but Garrett guessed right away. I knew he was an odd duck when I married him.
I hope you're having a wonderful time.
Love ya,
Christina

Hi Jeanne! These are such wonderful photos! I never saw a baby buffalo or baby goat before, and it looked like you got so close in those photos, but now I know the 15 feet rule, which will come in handy to know when we make our trip to Yellowstone the end of this summer. I hope you don't mind my asking, but where did you stay overnight when you visited the park?
I laughed at the photo of the ducks with their tails in the air!
Hugs, Pat
