PINK SATURDAY AND THE LIFE OF A VICTORIAN SCHOOL TEACHER
Today we are in the Pink Saturday mode and loving it. Thank you Beverly for hosting this amazing event. Amazing because 'so many' Pinkies join in the fun with the color pink. We visited an outdoor/indoor museum and even in the the early Victorian times ladies liked pink. You probably guessed we were in Momtrose, Colorado.
It all starts like this...
This home where the Victorian teacher lived, is over 100 years old.
The bedroom with the sweetest pink and white quilt. Everything is authentic in this building.
A few of her clothes. Notice the wallpaper which was recopied exact. Some pink there too.
Wash stand and chamber pot. Three cheers for modern bathrooms. LOL.
This home has only two rooms. I love the settee.
A wood burning stove. The stenciling is original but redone.
To the right is a cook stove for wood or coal.
Check out her vacuum cleaner. The stove was weird.
Her working and dining table. An oil lamp. How did that vacuum cleaner work???
She was a Pinkie. Notice the dishes and even the glass oil lamp. She had some pink attitude.
Do you see the color pink?
Awwww, pink bunnies. Definitely pink attitude.
Can you read these rules? Who would want to be a teacher back then?
Be sure and visit as many Pinkies as you can at How Sweet the Sound.
Love...Jeanne
Remember this is preposted and we are camping. See you in a week
Jeanne, Boy, life was hard in those days, even if she did have a "vacumn cleaner" and no I would not have wanted to be a school teacher in those days. A very interesting post, thanks for sharing.

What a charming little teacher's nest and what a hoot to read through the rules!

I would love to have that pink quit :-)
I don't think I'll survive such time. I love reading about those days and watching movies of this era (Anne books, watching three little women . . . ) But when I think of no actual bathroom oh no no no. :-)
One more, I don't think I'd be able to enjoy teaching with such kind of rules. Good thing the rule didn't say NO PINK ALLOWED :-) WOrst of it all? Not being able to loiter in ice cream stores! LoL
No PS post for me today :-(

Jeanne, I love this. And, we definitely know that she was smart because she was smart enough to love pink. ;-)
Give everyone our love.

What an amazing post !!! The Pink accented rooms are lovely. Oh, those rules are terrible and I wonder what the women were paid for all this - I imagine it was a lonely life.

Jeanne! This is a fantastic pink post! I am going to copy the teacher rules and send them to my two sister-in-laws who are teachers. They'll get a laugh out of those rules!

Gads, those rules are enough to make a gal want to change professions!! However, I did love her choice in bunny towels! :)
Bonnie and I sat outdoors in flea markety type of sale today--nearly 100 degrees...we were in the shade, but it was warm. My eyes are burning because of the wind and the hear (I'm guessing!). Even though it was hot, we still had fun.....Patty came out for a little visit, too...things got better when she and Bonnie went on a do-nut run! I hadn't had one in a long time--I devoured two and a half this morning! :)
Hope you had a great Pink Saturday!!! L, Dana

Hi Jeanne, great photos of that old school house. I don't think I would have been a very good teacher in those days after looking at those rules!
Happy Pink Saturday and I hope you are having a fabulous time camping!

Jeanne, this is the neatest thing ever! Look at how cool those buildings all are, and then seeing all of her things, too. I agree, the quilt is WONDERFUL. But so are those precious little buildings. I wish I had one for a guest house!
Loved this...
XO,
Sheila :-)
