I haven't participated with Foodie Friday very much but I have wanted to join in the fun. This week is a very foodie week because I am feeding 12 people three times a day for a week. When I tell you I cook enough food for a gang, I am not kidding. My grands set the table for this particular meal and I thought I would share it with you. I have a few before and afters to share too. This meal is my favorite meal to cook because it is EASY. ( and delicious) Trust me, this is nothing fancy.
First the table the grands set. Some things are missing such as glasses but you get the idea. It is set for 10 with two more setting at the Island. You can tell by the slanted photo, I was in a hurry. lol.
Now the Grands posing for a photo to please grandma. What they really wanted was to EAT!!!
OK, now for the food.
The Menu
Porkloin boneless roast
Yellow rice
Fresh green beans
Black beans
Corn bread
and
Chocolate ice cream cones with sprinkles

Now for the easy preparation info.
The porkloin was marinated with Dale's Steak Seasoning for 30 minutes. I pour off the excess marinade and sprinkle with garlic powder and white pepper. I add a bit of water and bake at 400 for one hour.
I use one large package of yellow rice and follow instructions. EASY!!!
Black beans for the yellow rice. I used three cans, any brand, of black beans and add garlic powder, a small onion chopped and in this case, half of a red pepper chopped, then cooked on low for one hour. So easy!!!
A large pot of fresh green beans. Remove ends and break into bite size pieces. Water to almost cover the beans, one teaspoon salt, one small onion chopped, and a few pieces of pre-cooked bacon cut up in small pieces. Cook on low for one hour.
Three boxes of Jiffy cornbread. Mixed by the instructions and baked at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Served warm with butter.
Chocolate ice cream cones completes the meal. Sorry, by the time I made 12 ice cream cones, most of the kids had finished their ice cream. No picture.
The following photos are the after.
Do I have to show more?
Every drop of that meal disappeared.
Including lots of ice cream.
It is a pleasure feeding kids when they are great eaters and love everything I cook. The 12 includes my dh, two of my daughters and me.
Thank you for joining in the fun. Be sure and visit Gollum at, Designs by Gollum for more foodie fun.
Love, Jeanne

Looks delish, Jeanne!
I bought green beans, yesterday, along with a little ham and new potatoes. Also bought corn. We will be having a "farmhouse" meal, today.
Your grandkids are so cute. Bet they are having a fantabulous time at your house!

Jeanne! That's a small army! And oh, that army chow looks great!:-) I love black beans and yellow rice. Do I see a Florida influence creeping in with that combo and pork??? Cecelia's other grandmother fixes black beans, yellow rice, and some sort of chicken that's good, too. Growing up we ate red beans and rice, but I think I prefer the black ones. There's a chef in St. Augustine who prepares his with olives... and they are wonderful.
My aunt used to fix a beef brisket using liquid smoke and BBQ sauce that was out of this world and made good sandwiches, too. She was always feeding a crowd. If I can find her recipe, I will let you know. She slow cooked it, and it was wonderful and very easy. As I recall, soy sauce and/or Worchestershire Sauce were involved. There could be as many as 15 kids when you pulled in her kids with all the nieces and nephews on both sides.
Hope you're having fun with your grands and daughters!
Happy Foodie Friday...
XO,
Sheila :-)

That food looked sooooo yummy! I am not surprised that is is all gone. I always use Jiffy cornbread mix and I add about a tablespoon of olive oil to the mix to moisten ita bit.
When I grew up in Michigan the Jiffy Mix factory was about 20 minutes from my house in Chelsea Michigan. In elementary school we took a class trip there and went through the factory and saw how it was made and boxed. Then we got to go home with boxes of Jiffy Cake mix and Jiffy Frosting. What a fun memory...

Penny

And to think I struggle putting a meal on the table for ONE 3yr old grand girl!!! You're a grandma inspiration!! :)
Your entire meal sounds so yummy--and your grands are so cute, even though they wanted to head for the table!!
I know you're having so much fun with them--you're a lucky lady to have so many close grand kiddos, but they're luckier, cuz that have YOU!!
Happy Friday, L, Dana
