Snow
Even though we had lots of snow, we decided to try and leave for our weekend trip to our son's house anyway. We drove our big truck because it has 4 wheel drive. We barely made it down our drive but we were able to get to the highway and head towards Asheville. Our son lives in Tenn about one hour North of Ashevelle. We knew there was lots of snow but we were not prepared for what we saw. In the highest elevation the snow was very bad. We counted about 70 cars and trucks that were abandoned and practically covered in snow. Wreckers were busy pulling them out. I took a couple of photos through our truck window so they aren't the best. This is the road we took to our sons home. It is a two lane mountain road called Asheville Highway. It is a winding mountain road.
This is what we found on our driveway when we arrived home that night. We did make it to our home but only because we had our big truck. It is good to be home again safe and sound.
CHRISTMAS LOVE,
Jeanne, I am glad you made it home safe and sound. Now you have one day to rest before your next adventure. Did you have your conversation with Diana last night? ;-)
I love your note cards. That Fifi is fabulously talented, and she is so generous.
Your snow pictures are awesome!!!!
Love you.

Jeanne, what a pretty tribute for Johnny, me, and our new home. You make me feel so special. Thank you!
Congratulations on your win from Fifi. She does such nice work; I'm sure the recipients of those note cards will be pleased too.
I've driven on that winding road in July, and it was no easy drive. I can't imagine driving it under these conditions. Be careful!
Happy Blue Monday and Merry Christmas!

ahhh, the photos are wonderful, Jeanne...that is a lot of snow. Lots of snow being blogged about this week...but none from out here in West Texas. I think it is about 62 or so out there this morning...amazing!
love your win from Fifi...She painted a picture of my son's vineyard a few months back and it is one of his Christmas gifts...they will love it!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, dear sister friend,

Hi Jeanne!
Fifi does such nice paintings! I was lucky to win some of her pretty cards once.
Your snow photographs are stunning! We received 14 inches of snow but it melts and disappears fast in the city and looks like ugly grey slush so quickly.
I'm so glad you were able to see my grandson's first birthday photos...he is such a delightful baby and I miss him so much ..I wish I lived closer to him.
Hope you and your family have a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
Hugs. Pat

Hi Jeanne! You did a great job documenting that huge snowfall! I don't think I would be as brave as you two...I'm glad you made it safe and sound!
Congrats on your wonderful win from Fifi! What a terrific gift!
Just finished with the Breakfast Group Christmas Brunch. It was so much fun...we are lucky to have maintained such a good friendship for so many years.
NOW, I'm going to take a nap. . . I have to gear up for exercise class. . . I've been a very bad girl lately and it's starting to show! :)

Beautiful painting. I need to stop by Fifi's. Perhaps this week while I'm on my break.
Those snow photos are amazing Jeanne!
We always had a big truck, but never thought we needed four wheel drive until Winter 1999. We lived in the back pasture 20 years. We had lots of snow and did just fine.Always managed to get in and out. But that particular January, we were snowed in 4 days. No one could get in and we couldn't get out. Luckily our power stayed on and we had plenty of supplies. It wasn't long after that, when J started looking around for a big truck with 4 wheel drive.
Merry Christmas!

Jeanne! Oh, my! Look at that snow. I don't think I could deal with it. I wouldn't know what on earth to do. It's pretty, though, and so are the notecards.
When are you heading to Florida? It's cold down here, too, and will be for a few days. I've got the heat cranked up tonight. We spend Christmas with friends further south. I wish we could meet up at some point. I'd love to meet you!
XO,
Sheila :-)

Advent calendars are sooooo fun!! I have two already that we are using this year (and two in boxes downstairs!) I had to stop myself from buying a cool train one in Target the other day...so please don't tempt me with thoughts of Eric Carle or miniature stockings...oooooo!

My hometown -- Portland, Oregon -- reacts the exact same way as DC: one inch and the city shuts down. Lame? Sure, but when you get maybe a week of good snow every year (and some years much less than that) nobody has any idea what they're doing. I wouldn't be surprised if the city kept Morton's on hand to clear up the roadways.

Hi,
I randomly came on this side and would like to leave nice greetings. I would be glad if you visit my homepage also! Maybe you want to visit Sylt Westerland in Germany http://www.MeerblickSylt.de or the Baltic Sea http://www.OstseeblickHolm.de for vacation?! We have there very nice flats with a nice view. Maybe we'll see soon!
Kind regards
