Today is Blue Monday hosted by my good friend Sally at, Smiling Sally. Thanks Sally for our ever flowing blue. If you love the color blue be sure and visit Sally for lots more blue to enjoy.
On one of my shopping trips to the Good Will I found my version of a cloche. A beautiful cobalt blue plate and a dome for a total of $3.00. I took one of my paper weights that had cobalt blue as well and walla! a cloche. At least it is my idea of a cloche. What do you think?
A stunning glass plate about 8 inches across.
This paper weight is from my collection
I think it looks gorgeous.

I decided to join Cielo at, The House in the Roses, for Show off Your Cottage Monday. I took down the Christmas decorations and used a new decor for my fireplace mantel. The painting is a Hargrove and the ducks etc. I have had for a long time. The plate is a purchase from an antique sale and the candle holder belonged to my mother. The candle is a battery operated candle which looks so real when it is turned on. The lamp was from our cabin and I like the way it fit so perfectly. Why didn't I turn it on. sigh. I am not ready to decorate for spring so I chose the duck theme instead. The painting was my inspiration piece.
This plate has been many times around is my guess.
Photo with the lamp on. The windows reflected in the mirror have too much light. Sorry for the blurring.
Love, Jeanne
NOTE: I will visit the quilt shop tomorrow for an update on the applique class. Bad weather is a problem for going anywhere of late. sigh!
blue is such a rapturous color...it makes me think of heaven first...then water... :)
i have to say, i love the adornments on your wood fp mantle/surround!
hope your week is most joyous!!

Hi Jeanne, LOVE your mantel decor! Mine still has the Nell Hill's winter garland on it and the two vintage black lanters...I did take down the glittery "Happy Holidays" sign! :) I also love your blue plate and "cloche"! I need to pick up one of those little domes (see them in thrift store a lot...I used to have one that went over a board for cutting cheese)...what you put together is darling.
We do have snow again...not a lot, but enough for the Breakfast Group to cancel our Monday gathering!
Have a great day!! L, Dana

Loved seeing your duck theme, Jeanne... that plate is really super neat... and I think your pieces you found definitely count as a cloche! Pretty blue plate, too.
I'm sitting here in a daze. I was up late, and got up early. My eyeballs are open with toothpicks. ;-)
XO,
Sheila :-)
