NOW FOR MY PINK
I planted three Weigela plants two years ago and this is what they look like now.
First some info about these gorgeous flowering shrubs.
Description: Attractive clear pink flowers with a yellow inner throat. Profuse bloomer. Compact grower with thick, dark green leaves. Developed at the Ottawa Research Station in Ontario, Canada. A COPF introduction.
Color: Pink w/ yellow
Foliage Color: Green
Sun Requirements: Full to Partial Sun
Type/Size: 12-15" Bareroot
Hardiness Zone: 4,5,6,7,8
The before photo of how they looked when they were planted.
The Weigela are the three plants on the right.
The stones are a dry river bed for drainage. The Weiglea looks small from this view. They are not!!!
The flower garden here has really grown. The first row is Russian Sage, the second row is Lupine and the third row the Weigela. The Weigela is so big is is overpowering the Lupine. I will trim it back after blooming. (compare this to the first photo)
Close up photo. They are a pale pink for the most part and they have a slight delicious smell.
They are blooming on every branch all the way to the ground.
These are so heavy they are laying on the ground.
I never dreamed these plants would be this beautiful.
These are God's blessing after a harsh winter.
I'm in Weigela LOVE!!!
I picked these for the Victorian Tea Party at Cielo's at,The House in the Roses on Monday May 10th.
Happy Pinkie DayLove, Jeanne

Gorgeous,Jeanne!! I am so jealous of your plants. . .you truly have a "green" thumb!! I love the view of the mountains from that side of your home, too. No wonder you enjoy being outside so much.....your home is situated on a wonderful spot!! Bet little Cheri' is loving the Spring weather, running all over the place while, while you are "digging in the dirt".
Have fun today on your outing. Bonnie and I are meeting in a few minutes for the Flower and Garden Sale on the The Square.....and I'm still in my PJs....I'd better run!
Have a WONDERFUL Mother's Day, Jeanne!!!!! Oh and have a great Pink Saturday!! L, Dana

Hi Mom, those flowers are beautiful. You sure have good vision. You knew those bushes would expand. I remember helping you spread mulch and I thought it looked so bare but you knew what you were doing. Of course I would expect nothing less.
Love ya,

Hi Jeanne~
Happy Mother's Day and PS to you. The leaves on the weigela (learned a new word today ;) remind me so much of holly leaves.
D'you know, that pink pitcher you have the weigela in is almost identical to the one my mother gave me that belonged to her mother?!
Love ya~
