I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by people like me,
But only God can make a tree.
TREES by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

Good morning!! Love these photos, Jeanne!! I'm making a quick stop to say "hi".....still working on our tag sale. B's garage looks like a maze! I hope the weather is OK this weekend, cuz we need to be able to put stuff on the driveway. I am putting my jogging on hold until Sun. My body can only take so much abuse in one week! :) Gotta get busy! L, Dana

Ah, this is without question one of my favorite poems. I remember learning it in elementary school.
My favorite trees are those hanging with moss found in many areas of the deep south. I've always wished I could bring some moss with me so it would grow on our trees.
And, trees are my favorite thing to draw. I think trees have their own character and personality.
Great post, Jeanne. This one speaks to my heart. Love you.♥
Let's go to Dana's sale this weekend.

The friendship and kind regard of a tree is like being noticed by some great, gentle beast, whose kindness is known to few, and who just stands leaning companionably at your side while the rest of the world stands back.
I've known several trees as intimate friends, and it's a wonderful relationship---the big one out back is one of the reasons we bought this house---he just spoke my language.

One of my favorite poems Jeanne! I first read it standing in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest when I was about 12 and on a camping trip with my family. Wonderful memories...

Hello Jeanne,
I love that poem! What fabulous and beautiful trees you have shared with us! I love how trees can be so resilient and adapt to their surroundings. I am particularly partial to our Southern trees dripping with Spanish Moss.

these are such beautiful tree pictures. Our first little house after we got married was on a street where huge old trees grew on both sides of the street and formed a green canopy over the road. We loved it!!
