AN AUCTION PURCHASE TO AMAZE YOU
Tonight I went to the auction with my sisters and good friend. We had so much fun bidding on lots of Christmas items. There was a Santa that I fell in love with the minute I saw him. Along with this santa there were many other Christmas figuerines that were quite nice. They were all sighned and dated by June McKenna. I did not know who she was. Sigh!
Finally the figuerines were ready to auction and the bidding began. The auctioneer began by saying these were priced at $200.00 origianally. He called for the bids and noone seemed to be interested. He finally asked if anyone would start the bid for $5. I imediately put up my number. The auctioned ended at $15. and I won the bid. I could choose anything I wanted from the collection, so I chose the Santa. All the rest of about 15 figuerines went for only $15. or $10. each. I didn't bid again because I was happy with my Santa. BIG MISTAKE.
My sister researched these figuerines when she got home and found my Santa that had just been sold for, (are you sitting down?) $284. plus $67. postage for shipping. Yes, my Santa is very heavy.
Here he is... the purchase of a lifetime.
Isn't he beautiful?
My sister bought two for $10. each, both Santas with a sleigh. WHY OH WHY didn't I buy more??? Sighing deeply here.
Keep on thrifting and looking for that bargain. They are out there and sometimes they call your name.
Love, Jeanne
Congrats on your Santa, he's a cutie-enjoy:@)

I'm thinking I would be putting that Santa up for bid on e-Bay......and then you'd have a little more to be merry about this Christmas!! ho, ho, HO! :) I've never heard of that artist, but now I will be on the look out! :) Did the auctioneer say they were signed and numbered before the bidding started?
I'm working away on my last sale for this weekend. This is my favorite show of all I do, but I'm really struggling....I want to be decorating my house and not sewing! :)
Gottat get busy.
I loved your bargain!! L, Dana

Oh Jeanne, leave it to you to find THE BEST SANTA EVER. He is magnificent. And heavy right? I bet Bill said " Gee Whiz Jeanne, where or where are we going to store his one???"... lol
Well I went to Cornwall yesterday. Mom had her first in house doctor appointment. I couldn't for the life of me get this cute doctor to crack a smile. I must be loosing my touch LOL. All went well.
We had some freezing rain, but it's all good today.
The boys are in the last throws of school. Exams are just around the corner. I have to get up tomorrow yuck, and get a mammogram and my back x-rayed. It's going to be a long day indeed. Gotta do it.
So kids birthdays are around the corner too. Here comes crazy Dec. Brittany will be 22 on the 6th, Colt 18 on the 10th. Brother in law, 60 on the 12. Girlfriends Karen and Patsy's birthdays also. So many in Dec. and Santa's big day too OMG.
We will be spending Xmas Eve at my sisters. Randy is cooking. I like Xmas Eve, always did. To me it's better than Xmas Day.
So I'm catching up in the contest. Are you still voting? Is Bill is little CC? LOL
Off I go to change up my blog for the holidays.
