REASON FOR THE SEASON
PARTY
Lynn at, Happier than a Pig in MUD is hosting the above meme. It is all about the 'NATIVITY' and how we should remember why we celebrate Christmas.
Thank you Lynn for a lovely idea to present a special post.
First this is for you Lynn...
In a moment you will see why I love this idea. I have several nativity's in my home.
First, a version of my own nativity.
This Mondonna is a thrift store purchase for $10.00. Who would part with such a beautiful thing?
Now for the many different Nativities that I have collected over the years. Some are handmade, some are novelties and some are vintage.
The nativity was made by my mother-in-law many years ago. This craft was very popular in the 80's, I think. She gave it to me for Christmas one year. She spent countless hours making this for me. She was the best MIL one could ever have.
The base of these figures is a soda bottle. Then dip and draping of fabric that is stiffened. Last painted. The are displayed on the top of our entertainment center.
The next nativity is ceramic and was also painted by my MIL for herself. They displayed them out side every Christmas. This is the 2nd time I am sharing this.
This nativity was the first one I ever had and I bought it in the 1950's. This year I had to glue the angel back on as well as the sheperd far left. I added the star because I thought it was needed.
The next one is German with quite a few pieces. Very nice and I only paid $5. at the auction.
A close up of the manger scene. Baby Jesus is adorable.
The next three are novelties and tiny. I love them all.
A better view.
This one is very tiny and displayed with my Christmas village.

Good morning, my dearest friend. It is very cold here, and even colder where you are. I am dreading going to work. I don't like being cold. I will be thinking of swaying palms and warm breezes. Maybe that will keep me warm.
All of your nativity sets are so pretty. And, I smiled thinking of Molly. She did love you all well.

Hi Jeanne! Thanks for joining the party! Your nativities hold such special memories, your MIL was very creative! I think we used to have the little plastic one too, it's very familiar to me!
PS-the little "pinky" made me smile, have a great day:@)

Those are all lovely Jeanne and the memories are so sweet of you mother-in-law. I've been blessed with a lovely MIL who also raised 4 fine men and I got one of them. The one she made is so original. Have a great day.

I stopped by to leave you a quick Merry Christmas, but then I couldn't just blurt that out and leave after seeing your special Nativity Collection! I too had a very special MotherInLaw. Her name was Ruth and she gave me the greatest gift anyone could ever give....HiHoney! He was suppose to be a Christmas Baby, but decided he'd rather be a New Years Baby...yep he was born on New Years Eve. Besides, HiHoney, Ruth gifted me with her two sweet daughters who are as much my Sisters as HiHoney's. I'm sure YOU were loved as a Daughter by your MIL. Okay here it is....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Hi Jeanne!
Thank you for visiting my blog while I was away in Colorado celebrating my grandson's second birthday! He is so adorable and I already miss him so much.
Your nativity sets are so beautiful! I have one similar to the one you purchased in the 50's, only I bought mine in 1975. I arrived home yesterday, so I just bought my tree and have a lot of catch up to do. ..boxes are everywhere! :)

Hi Jeanne! Are you still stuck on the mountain? Wow! You guys have been hit hard. So far, it's just been miserably cold here, but today it's warmer....and we're predicted to get a little FREEZING RAIN tonight! ugh!!
I'm still in the house, forcing myself to decorate. I am not in the mood this year....however, your post just reminded me it's because I'm not always focusing on the right reasons!! I need to be remembering the simple nativity and what it represents and not the boxes of "stuff" I have been hauling up from the basement to scatter and hang around the house. Lynn had a great idea to focus on the true Christmas meaning.
Love to you, Dana
PS Didn't you get the little glass pedestal and cloche at Nell Hill's? I finally got one, but bought it at Luticia Clementines.

I think my favourite is still your MIL's nativity. I remember it from last year. I also have my mom and dad's from when I was a little girl. I don't have the room for it this year, but I did "pink up" one for my mom. I put that snow glue on top of the "creche" and sprinkled pink fairy dust all over it. It's really pretty.
You have the house for all of yours Jeanne, and they all look beautiful.
Just like you.
