AUCTION FUN.
Many of you know I love to go to the auction with my sister the antique dealer. She went tonight and I didn't go. I wonder what bargains she found without me. Sigh.
My thrifty buy was something I didn't even want and got the bid by forgetting to bring my number down. Once and a while it happens. I was going to just put it the donation box for Good Will. BUT, I found out the unwanted items were really something that made me very happy.
This photo is part of my Christmas displays in my kitchen window. I will tell you about it after you see it.
This is not a great photo but do you see the hangers that the Christmas ornaments are hanging on? This is what was in a box along with some Santa mugs not shown. Also, the cute little bluebird toothpick holder was in the box. It was a $10.00 bid. Sigh. However, I love that I can hang my special ornaments for a change and I ended up loving this purchase. These ornaments have special meaning to me as well as the Santa that my MIL painted and gave it to me for Christmas in the 1980's
The toothpick holder is adorable and the bell ornament is vintage and belonged to my mother. I think this is a wonderful way to hang such a special treasure. It is safer in my kitchen window.
Not such a bargain but definitely a good thing after all.
Keep on looking for those thrifty treasures.
Love, Jeanne
Okay, Jeanne. It isn't even seven o'clock in the morning, and you made me laugh. You forgot to put your arm down??? Was your arm up from a previous auction???
Now, about your win. This is a wonderful example of getting lemons and making lemonade. You are the best.
Love to you. I'll be leaving for work soon.♥

My grandmother could fall into a barrel at Goodwill and come up with a diamond ring...lol....Lovely find. Your mother's bell ornament must really show up beautifully when the light hits it. Have a great day.

The first auction I ever went to, I kept leaving my paddle up, and the auctioneer told me after the auction, that I was really just bidding myself up! Lesson learn....
Love the blue bird toothpick holder and your special ornaments are beautiful.

Jeanne, re: your comment about my song. You have to listen to the words which are so incredibly moving. It is about a man just learning he is going to be a father.
"With Arms Wide Open"
Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I close my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything ...oh yeah
With arms wide open..wide open
[Guitar Break]
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
With arms wide open
I'll show you everything..oh yeah
With arms wide open....wide open

That would be me- winning a bid because I still had my paddle up and I was chatting away with somebody!! At least it was a decent price and something you could use! LOL I like those ornament holders- I have a few nice Waterford ornies that I would rather see displayed like this than hidden in a tree. I will be on the look-out for something like this, whether new or old. Thanks for the inspiration, Jeanne.

I am not an auction person either Jeanne...usually end up paying too much for stuff that is barely worth my bid! LOL
I think you did just fine...those ornament holders alone are probably more than worth your total!
Thanks so much for linking to 2nd Time Around and being such an awesome blogging friend!:)

You just never know what treasures lie in boxes. Lucky you. The auction can be an intimidating place. I would probably always spend more than I had planned to just because I didn't know when to stop. You always have funny stories.

Jeanne, I think it was worth $10. Those hangers are neat, and the holder is very cute. And you got mugs, too? That's actually not a bad price at all.
XO,
Sheila :-)

I usually miss the bid altogether on something I came specifically to buy because I'm too busy talking! Lol! I think you did pretty good for someone who wasn't paying attention! That little bluebird toothpick holder is adorable! And the stands display your special ornaments nicely! Vanna
