A BARGAIN ADVENTURE
Have you ever thought about buying an RV and taking off to travel our beautiful country?
A few years ago that is just what we did. It didn't take us long to find a Fifth Wheel RV and a BIG Ford truck to haul our bargain purchase. We were lucky to find both for a "second time around price." We did get the "thrifty buy" of a lifetime. We havent't traveled the United States in it yet but we leave tomorrow for our first long trip.
WE ARE GOING TO MAINE.
From where we live, that is 1250 miles one way.
So this is what our bargain looks like.
It was used but in excellent condition.
NOW FOR THE BIG FORD TRUCK
It is parked in front of our cabin that is on our property. The terrace steps take us down to our front yard. Can you guess...we live on a mountain. Our home is not the cabin, it is to the left of the cabin. Lots of loving family and friends stay in the cabin when they visit us.
Now for a peek inside our RV.
The RV has three slides that give our RV the look of a small apartment when we let them out. See the carpet line by the table? When the slide is in, the table and couch rests against the kitchen cabinet on the right. The other two slides take the bedroom and kitchen out. It is surprising how much larger the RV is with the slides out. They are electric and very easy to move.
The living room/kitchen. Both of the chairs turn around and they are recliners. This position is necessary when the slides are not out.
Our kitchen. There is a microwave above the stove. The fridge is to the right. the freezer and fridge have oak doors.
The dishes etc. in the cupboard are all thrifty buys. I love a good bargain.
Two small steps take us to the bathroom and bedroom. Behind the mirrored double doors is a large closet. The throw rug is another thrifty buy. The bed is queen size and sooooo comfortable with a memory foam mattress.
The bathroom sink and to the left a very roomy shower.
Gotta have one of these.
Back to the living area. The TV and VCR are all built in. The cabinet above is where the dishes are. the fridge and freezer is to the left. There is tons of storage above all the furniture in every available space.
2nd time around thrifty purchase. I love this.
Last a couple of pics of our poodle Cheri'. We are trying to get her used to the RV. We will be living in it for a month.
This is proof that she is happy in the RV. Her froggy position is her absolute most comfy way of resting.
Last, I must share a gift from my dearest friend Beverly at How Sweet the Sound She gave this to us when we purchased our 2nd time around, thrifty RV home on wheels.
I apologise for the lengthy post but I didn't want to leave anything out.
Keep on thrifting. I am going to check out all of the thrift stores I can find in Maine. I wil be posting from Maine as well.
Love,
JEANNE
Sounds like you're about to go on a big adventure Jeanne, how exciting! Have fun and I can't wait to hear all about it! Glad Cheri is happy and going for the ride:@)

I'm so excited for your new adventure. We Rv'd for about 8 years. Living in it for 6 months each winter was a lot of fun, especially when we went someplace different each year. I'm looking forward to the "road trip" posts. Have fun.

What fun! You will meet the nicest people along the way! We started with a tent when first married and graduated to an Allegro Bus now!! On the road is a great adventure!!
Blessings!!

Happy Tuesday, Jeanne. You guys are living in style. I know CC is happy to be a camper, too. She just wants to be with her mom and dad.
Love you. Talk to you tonight.♥

Hi Jeanne!
Oh I'm glad I got here today to wish you a fabulous trip! Your trailer is a great size and you are going to have so much fun I just know it. A month is a great length of time and you'll be so cozy. We love road trips but we don't travel with a trailer but it is something we have talked about. I can't wait to visit where you visit so be sure to post and take pics.
have fun...be safe.
*hugs*

Hi Jeanne,
Love that new vacation home! I would love to have one of these, but know that hubby wouldn't want to drive it! LOL
I bet you will have a blast on your trip...look forward to reading about your thrifty treasures!
Love the picture of your baby!
Thanks for linking to 2nd Time Around!

Morning, Jeanne! Oh, your RV is gorgeous and y'all are truly going to be traveling in style! It looks brand new! I'm really happy for y'all. Little Cheri' is adorable and she's ready to go, I can tell. Have a great time, be safe and take lots of pictures!
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

WOW that was the BEST tour Jeanne. I hadn't seen your RV when Julie and I were there. LOVE IT.
CC will be a happy camper for sure. Don't you love the "froggy" position? That doesn't sound right HAHA....mind out of the gutter Claudie.
So it's super windy, but sunny, no complaints. I should be going to visit my mom today, but I have too much to do this week. They are having a fashion show at her manor and tea after. They are always busy doing some type of activities, but she's seldom there. My sis takes her out every single day. What a great sister I have : )
So we are filling up the pool today. It will probably take 3 days since we are on well water, but that's ok. Randy has to take the whipper snipper back. It's not powerful enough, wouldn't ya know it?
American Idol tonight, yeah. Last dancing with the stars tonight too. Everything is winding down, come on summer.
We have so much brick work to do around the pool and corners of the garage, the dog run, everywhere, I'm not sure how it will all get done with Randy not being able to participate, but I'm hoping Riley's friend will be able to give us some quality time/hours for a few weeks since he doesn't have a job right now. Colt is a great helper, but school comes first.
Ok I know you are busy busy getting everything ready, so I'll close and wish you and Bill and CC a safe, pleasant, adventurous, happy camping month.

I love this Jeanne! You are really going to enjoy your 5th wheel. Our friends Jim and JoAnn, have a 5th wheel and go to South Padre Island or AZ every winter for about 4 months and absolutely love it.
Happy Trails!!

You are going to have such a good time, Jeanne! Love that camper. Love that Cherie, too.
I'm late visiting from my post last week (still recuperating from that old injury), but despite my tardiness, I still wanted to thank you for your sweet comments. I appreciate them and you more than you know.
XO,
Sheila

What a castle on wheels!!!! I can just see how you have turned that camper into a real little home away from home!!! It's amazing how many amenities can be packed into it, too!!
Oh, little Cheri' looks like she is more than ready for a road trip!!! You are smart to get her used to her new digs.
Sure wish I was "on the road" right now. I want to escape, but it won't be happening any time soon. So much going on around here.
We spent another night fearful of what the weather would bring. I hauled our survival stuff to the basement last night. It was scary, but thankfully, we just had high winds and lots of rain...no tornados.
Hope you have the most wonderful trip....and I LOVE the little gift from Beverly. She loves you sooooooooo much!!!

You have a lovely home, cabin and trailer home. I think it would be a neat way to travel if you were to be gone awhile. However, with gasoline prices, trust you do not brake the bank. It looks like you found an excellent one on this purchase. Trust you have a safe and enjoyable trip. I am just now getting my power back is why I have not visited sooner.

Wow, how cool is that! I see many lovely hours of road enjoyment here! ;) Have fun my friend!

I'm impressed Jeanne - it looks spacious and comfy, know you will love touring New England. Do you drive it or just Bill? Bob said if we had one I'd have to drive it - no way say I!
Take care and have a wonderful trip. Maine is one of my favorite states - we spent lots of time there when we live in New England.

It doesn't look like the inside of a vehicle at all! Did you fit it yourselves? You know, one of the biggest advantages of having a trailer/RV is you get to bring your home (or a piece of it) to different places. Keep it out of the bumpy roads, of course - we wouldn't want all those china on the floor!
