DO YOU WATCH THE KENTUCKY DERBY?
Chruchill Downs in Lousiville, Kentucky.
I wonder if he will win.

Beautiful!
PINK ROCKS!
Did she lose the race!!!
Did they go to the Royal Wedding?
Who is going to win?
This girl is having fun!
A DAY AT THE RACES
Probably this is an artist's rendition of THE OAKS.
Ladies day is the day before the Derby and fashion is EVERYTHING, especially the HATS.
A race for the three year old Throughbred Filies, is always the day before the Derby
PINK IS THE COLOR OF THE DAY
How convenient for PINK SATURDAY
I hope you enjoyed a peek of the Derby.

Love,
JEANNE
Sure looks like a lot of fun! The hats are great-enjoy:@)

This is such a great post Jeanne. I adore that big pink hat with the black strapless sundress. Never went to the Derby, but my dad and I watched it together whenever possible. My best friend was married on the day of the Derby way back when. They were also our next door neighbors. My dad was a gentlement to the max, but he was beyond upset that the reception was going to be in full swing during the Derby. This was way before you could tape, lol. My parents had many discussions on how my father was going to "sneak" away to the lounge where the tv would show the Derby. As I said, he was a gentlemen and would never do a thing to call attention to himself or cause an embarassment to his family. The time of the Derby came closer and closer. Just as my dad stood up from the table to quietly exit to the lounge, the groom took the mic and announced "there would be a short break in the reception so "art" could enjoy the Derby"! My poor father was beyond embarassed momentarily until he realized that this was an invitation for anyone to go to the lounge and enjoy the Derby run. They all thought my dad was hero that day for giving them an excuse to leave, lol. Happy PS and Happy Mother's Day Jeanne.

Is that Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken in PINK???? Did he really come from Kentucky? I never even thought of that, but I bet he did.
Sweet post Jeanne. Lot's of pretty pink hats, but that last abstract painting is my favourite.
Nice PS

I just booked our N.Y. trip. It's a done deal. We will be there June 4th and 5th. I wanted May 21st, but being in N.Y. on a Monday is not good. All broadway shows and closed and our fav rest. is closed. So now it's June. No problem here.

I can't remember a year that I haven't watched the Derby. My parents and I always watched when I was growing up, and we each always picked the horse we wanted to win. And, of course I continued the tradition with my husband, son and now grandson. I will definitely be wearing one of my hats for this grand occasion.
Happy Pink Saturday, Happy Derby Day and Happy Mother's Day to the very best friend in the whole wide world.♥♥♥♥♥ One heart from each of us.

I have only seen one real horse race. I really enjoyed it, but it was over much too soon. I have watched this on TV, and long to be there. Nice job.

Hi Jeanne!
You found such wonderful pink photos for the Kentucky Derby and Pink Saturday! I love all the fanciful hats. I think hats may make a big come back after all the publicity the Royal wedding gave them.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

Happy Pink Saturday, Happy Kentucky Derby and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you!! What a fun, fun post!
I have LOVED watching the Derby for years. . .and it was usually by myself. I am mesmerized by the entire event. . . the glamour of it all is just so exciting!!
In 2006 I attended a KD Party! I'd never been to one before. . . and it was a blast. No one wore the big hats or sipped Mint Juleps, but we "bet' on the winner. Actually, we put some money in a pot and pulled out a name! Guess which horse I got. . . yep, it was Barbaro. Another lady got it, too, so we split the pot . . . I won $50.00!! Of course, I fell in love with that horse. . . and was so sad when he shattered his leg in the next race, the Preakness. Even with lots of surgeries and care, he eventually had to be euthanized. A very sad day, indeed.
I will be watching the race tomorrow. . . .and I will be sipping a Mint Julep and, like your BFF Beverly, I will be wearing a hat!!! Did I tell you I had planned on hosting a KD party this year cuz I had found KD glasses at a thrift shop for 59 cents each? Well, I won't be hosting a party cuz I have a 5K on Sunday and I need my rest. . . but NEXT year. . . PAR-TAY!!!!!! :) Maybe you and Beverly can come to it. . .what do you think? ;)
Cheers! Love, Dana

What fun! My senior mom is having a blast watching all the coverage in between gardening projects and keeping me updated on all the happenings. Of course, now the big question is - will it rain or won't it! The weather forecast has changed every single day! Right now - it's showing rain at 1 but we're all hoping it will stave off a bit. Thanks for such fun pink photos of it. I'll have to show my mom.

I love seeing all the pink hats - I wish I had one to wear. That is was more on order to wear a hat when you are 40 here as well every day but it is not. Did you take all the photos?

And it is also noted, that love and envy do make a man pine, which other affections do not, because they are not so continual.
