THIS IS NOT FOR ME!!!
NOT ME
I stay home and eat Sour Cream Raisin pie
My pie is a family tradition and so easy.
My grandmother's recipe
1 cup raisins
1 cup sour cream
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 pinch of salt
double crust
350 degrees 40 - 45 minutes.
The crust will be 'barely' browned. DO NOT OVERBAKE
My friend Beverly at, How Sweet the Sound, would give almost anything to have a piece of this pie
Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. The term dates back to at least 1966, although its usage was primarily on the East coast. The term has become more common in other parts of the country since 2000. Because Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday occurs between the 22nd and the 29th of November.
Black Friday is not an official holiday, but many employees have the day off (with the exceptions of those employed in retailing, health care, and banking), which increases the number of potential shoppers. Retailers often decorate for the Christmas and holiday season weeks beforehand. Many retailers open extremely early, with most of the retailers typically opening at 5AM or even earlier. Some of the larger retailers (depending on the location) such as Sears, Best Buy, Macy's, Toys "R" Us, and Walmart have been reported to open as early as midnight on the start of Black Friday in localized areas and remain open for 24 hours throughout the day until midnight the following Saturday. Upon opening, retailers offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. Although Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1960s.
The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that day (see Origin of the name "Black Friday" below). More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers go from being in the red (i.e., posting a loss on the books) to being in the black (i.e., turning a profit).
(This info was taken from Google)
Go ahead tell me...do you shop like crazy on Black Friday? At this very moment my daughter and her kids are plotting their route for the biggest shopping day of the year.
NOT ME....I do not do this kind of shopping. I guess there is some kind of high when you find items on sale and get a good start on your Christmas shopping list.
All I can say is...HAVE FUN.
Love,
JEANNE
Happily, I do not shop on Black Friday, Jeanne..lol! I do all my shopping over the internet pie as I have to ship almost everything west to my children and grandchildren. Your grandmother's pie recipe looks so good!
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Pat

Your pie sounds great! While I've made raisin pie before, it didn't have the sour cream in it. As for Black Friday, I'm not even leaving the house today! I'm putting up my Christmas tree instead:@)

Hi Jeanne,
The pie looks delicious!
I don't go to Black Friday sales either!
Not worth the aggravation! LOL

NOOOOO!!! My shopping gene got left out at birth, and just the scent of all those clothes handing in Wal-Mart and Sears, over-riding the tire-scents and the lovely chickens on their rotisserie carousel--I rush past the racks, bumping into DVD and cereal displays with my cart in an effort to escape.
Sweetpea had a sleepover last night, and we're going for a long walk in this sunshine---Her Mommy and Mammaw and Aunt all hit the stores at midnight, went home for a nap this a.m, and they're back out now. I just enjoy my time at home. We won't be going NEAR any places of commerce today, we hope.
Leftovers when we all gather for dinner, and we're looking forward to a quiet, paper-plate evening with everybody choosing from the Tupperware and microwaving whatever strikes their fancy.
Hope your day was wonderful---love from the Heartland!

Funny, I was just asking Randy, late last nigh, really late, about WHY they call it "BLACK" friday. Low and behold, you anwered my question without having to google it. See I learn so much from you Jeanne. You are full of great wisdom and stories. That's what I LOVE about you. I never know what to expect.
Now about the pie.... never ever heard of raisin sour cream. I'd try it, but not sure I would like it, but I probably would since you and Diana made it.
Colt is gone shopping. He never shops, and I've taught him well. LOOK FOR THE DEALS!!! NEVER pay full price!!!! He listens.
Ok gotta get some "stuff" done.
Did you get my pics of the snow?
