A MOMENT FOR CHRISTMAS ON THE TOP OF MY ENTERTAINMENT CENTER
Then a few moments to remember a historic day in our country's history.
The white is a slanted ceiling in my A-frame home. The gold is my wall. The entertainment center is decorated for Christmas and I will share it 'all' on Pink Saturday with Beverly at, How Sweet the Sound.
We shall never forget Pearl Harbor Day Dec. 7th, 1941
Pearl Harbor day.
My Mother-in-law's birthday was Pearl Harbor Day. She remembered that day vividly. She said her small town was in shock. People gathered in the churches to pray for our military men and women and the people who were in that attack in Hawaii on that terrible day. It has been compared is some ways to 911.
As we go about our Christmas shopping and the festive plans we are making for the coming holiday, let us say a prayer in remembrance of the many who were died and wounded on Pearl Harbor Day
May God Bless America
The Attack on Pearl Harbor
On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941 America's naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was attacked by the forces of the Empire of Japan. More than 2,400 Americans were killed and more than 1,100 were wounded. The attack sank four U.S. Navy battleships and damaged four more. It also damaged or sank three cruisers, three destroyers, one minelayer and damaged 188 aircraft.
Aftermath
The day after the attack, the United States declared war on Japan and entered World War II. President Franklin Roosevelt, in a speech to congress, stated that the bombing of Pearl Harbor is "a date which will live in infamy".[2]
Public Life
It is not a federal holiday. Government offices, schools, and businesses do not close. Some organizations may hold special events in memory of those killed or injured at Pearl Harbor.[2]
Memorials
Memorials have been built to remember the day and its events. The USS Arizona memorial in Pearl Harbor is a marble memorial over the sunken battleship USS Arizona, which was dedicated in 1962. The memorial remembers all military personnel who were killed in the Pearl Harbor attack. Another memorial is that of the USS Utah, a battleship that was attacked and sunk in the attack. A memorial to honor the crew of the USS Utah was dedicated on the northwest shore of Ford Island, near the ship's wreck, in 1972. The ship was added to the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1989. In 1991, which marked the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Congress established the Pearl Harbor Commemorative Medal. This is also known as the Pearl Harbor Survivor's medal and can be awarded to any veteran of the United States military who were present in or around Pearl Harbor during the attack. The medal can be awarded to civilians, who were killed or injured in the attack.
Blessings and love,
JEANNE

How could I forget Pearl Harbor Jeanne? When Brittany was born, yesterday, Randy's aunty always said "she missed pearl harbour by one day". I think of that day every year.
We had a nice visit with Brittany yesterday. SHe's happy and that's all that matters. She's invited us and the boys for Xmas Eve dinner this year. First time at their house. SHe's planning the whole thing.
My Aunty in Cornwall just sold her house last month, moved into the same manor as my mom, fell in the bathroom, like my mom, and is now in the hosp. with a broken hip. She's not doing well. I have to go and see her very very soon. She's also on the same floor and same hosp. as mom : (
She's also 90. Darn it. I didn't want to go back there, but I must. I'm probably going tomorrow.
Calling CC tonight. She wan't to chat.

We are watching a special about Pearl Harbor right now. Such a sad day in our history......so horrible for the brave military people who lost their lives that day. May we forever remember that attack on our country and 911, too.
I know you are super busy getting ready for Christmas. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels. No decorating...and only a hand full of gifts purchased. I have been out looking, but can't get excited about shopping. I did get to see my Gr. Girl's PreSch. Christmas program today...sooooooo cute.
Hope all is well with you, Bill and CC!!

Hi Sweet Jeanne! How are you gal? Things here are good! I am a bit under the weather right now, but I hope it passes soon.
Pearl Harbor is still unbelievable to me. We watch shows on it, and it just doesn't seem like it should have ever happened.
I'm sure you're getting your halls decked out for the holidays! I will be doing that over the next couple of days, and I can't wait!! Hope you'll share some more photos! Love that mantel you shared a couple of posts ago!!
Love, hugs, and Christmas blessings to you!!
