A FAVORITE SCRAPBOOK TO SHARE
This scrapbook is brought out every Christms but it is not just about Christmas, The pages are fabric. It is hard to imaging the effort it took to find the treasures in this craft of old. I bought it at an estate sale so long ago I can't remember how much I paid for it. I have thought about framing some of the pictures in the book but I don't have the heart to take it apart.
The fabric pages have curled and are pretty worn out but the charm of this book is still there.
Scrapbooks like this were common many years ago. The unusual part is the fabric pages. Probably cost effective back then.
I hope you enjoyed a look at the crafts of old in the early 1900's.
Love,
JEANNE
Charming and sweet, from the hands and hearts of simpler times. Just holding one of these long-ago treasures in your hands is a gift and a mystery, holding too many stories to count.
I hope you're well and warm, dear Jeanne, and look forward to sharing all your adventures in the New Year.
love and,
rachel

What a fabulous piece you found Jeanne. It's truly a special treasure. I found one very similar to it, just before Christmas and came very close to buying it but it was very very pricey. Absolutely adore yours! xo

That is such a wonderful piece. With modern new technologies I would try to scan the images and print out on fabric to frame and hang.

My gosh Jeanne, you surprise me all the time with all your really neat things. I've never seen anything like it. LOVE the pics and the way the pages curl. Gives it character just like you, lol.
I just found out, because I talked to Sister yesterday, (she's at a convent in Mtl. for the week and feels very blessed and comfortable and she even has a phone in her room) that Pierrette's kids put together a big envelope of treasures for Sister that Pierrette had. She has her mom and dads valentines from 1906!! She also has pictures of her and her siblings and Aunts and uncles. She's so happy to have these treasures in her possession. We talked on her phone for an hour. I have to call her back tomorrow night to see where she'll be Thurs. & Fri. night. Her niece that she's very close to is flying in from Fla. and Sister will be joining her at the Hotel. This is a treat indeed. She told me she will be able to go via a tunnel from the convent to the hosp. where Pierrette died. She wants to talk to the sweet nurse that was there holding her hand when she passed away at 9:00 am. I hate the thought that her family wasn't there. Nobody knew how serious it was. I will be meeting all kinds of cousins on Sat. Big family, French and loving I'm sure.
Well I better do something around here today. I've been so lazy. Randy has been on courses. He had a rough day yesterday. Those 8 hr. days sitting is killing him. Three days in a row will make havoc on his body, but he pulls through. Last night he fell asleep on me for an hour. He goes to the doc again today for more magic pills. It's the only thing that has saved him lately. Not sure I told you. They are called Trametol. I can't believe the doc waited nearly 4 yrs. before letting him try them. I guess you have to be dying before they look at you differently. C'est la vie.
Hope you are resting today a little Jeanne. Your pooping me out, lol.

Hi Jeanne! Oh, what a wonderful scrapbook. Lovely images too. I have never seen one with cloth pages! I have the scrapbook I had when I was a little girl. Some of the things have fallen off but it's fun to look back at it and I'm so glad my mother didn't toss it!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

wow, how cool is that. I don't think I've ever seen a scrapbook made from Fabric. Where would they FIND this fabric??
You have a treasure there. I personally, don't think I'd frame it, but leave as is, placed out each year to lovingly thumb through.
hugs today !!

Scrapbooks are delightful to me. My grandma Jewell left all of hers to me and instilled a love of old books. Yours is fabulous,I've not seen one in fabric before. All the contents are really neat too.

I have never seen a fabric scrapbook!! What a treasure!!!
I remember making scrapbooks as a kid. We'd put them together with brads.....then cut up magazines, catalogs, old cards, wrapping paper...whatever.....and paste the pictures in them!! We even made our own paste out of water and flour. I know....that dates me big time, doesn't it?
I actually have two scrapbooks I made in HS that blew my classmates away at our 20 year reunion!! I'd saved so many things from my HS experiences...right down to a punch lunch ticket, receipt for my class ring, corsages from dances, cards and notes from friends!! I guess I've always been super sentimental. :) Does that excuse my tendency to hoard?
It's cold and slick here today....a bit of snow last night melted on the pavement, then refroze. Rush hour was a nightmare....and getting the trash can down our incline of a driveway was a challenge...but I made it w/o falling! Then, I put the Icemelt out so my hubby could back out w/o sliding into the street...and our girl could make it UP the drive when she returned from work (night shift) to retrieve the gr. dog.
Gotta get busy......gonna make a pot of soup (it's 16 here this morning!!) and put away more Christmas stuff...Yeah, I'm really bad about that! :)
Have a great day......L, Dana

I’ve never seen such a vintage scrapbook! My grandmother used to tell me that she had a scrapbook when she was a teen. I have always wanted to see it… Too bad she gave it to her best friend who is miles away. I’ve never even met her! This scrapbook probably looks like it. :D
