WELCOME TO "MY"
Beverly, at How Sweet the Sound, is hosting Pink Saturday for the most fun Blog Party of the week. My New Year will be a pink one because of you. Thank you Beverly. You ROCK!!!
A WONDERFUL SURPRISE
My sister Carmen called me the other day and asked me to come over she had a gift for me. she lives one mile from me across the mountain. When I arrived she gave me a box of our mother's Christmas ornaments that had been in her attic for many years. It was a small box holding about a dozen 1940's absolutely charming vintage ornaments. I did not remember them at all. Carmen said she remembered them from our Christmas trees in Michigan. We moved to Fl in 1947. I am so thrilled I had to share them, even if Christmas is over.
A closer look...
Squeal...some of them were PINK
I adore this church scene.
This is actually a church.
A bit of pink on the back of this one.
This one is inverted on the front.
Season Greetings and a pretty pattern.
A bit blurry but I love this one.
Some more pink.
Pretty in gold.
Sparkle in gold.
This gold bell is lovely as well.
I didn't share a closeup of all of them but you can see them in the first photo. Thank you so much my darling sister. Nothing could have pleased me more that these prescious ornaments that our mother once loved.
Love you so much sister dear,
JEANNE
Ohhhh what a treasure ! and how sweet of your sis to give them to you.

You really have been blessed with some vintage treasures filled with great memories. These are hard to find now and when you do they are pricey.

FABULOUS or what! I'm so pleased for you. How amazing they've survived in such perfect condition (we now have non-breakable ONLY lol lol lol). Bet these brought back some memories. If only they could talk, hey?
Happy Pink Saturday, Jeanne!

When I was just recently visiting my folks, I asked my mom if I COULD HAVE her older Christmas ornaments. She doesn't use them anymore, and hasn't for years.
Now, I'll need to check with my sister, and see if she wants any.
I LOVE these old vintage ornaments. and my mom has some, similar to yours.
What a joy eh.
Happy day.
Hugs and love,

Oh sweet Carmen. LOVE these Jeanne. And they were your mom's?? HOW wonderful to now have them for your tree. I found a little gold one just like the last one you have. Mine is a little smaller. There was only one. And who cares if Xmas is over.
It's been snowing soooo much Jeanne. I'm not sure I will make it out tomorrow morning. OMG. I think we have over 18 inches already!! Poor Colt and Riley had to shovel twice today. The big snowblower/plough guy came this morning and again tonight. It was pretty all day, but now it's just nasty...
I haven't spoken to Sister. They must have been at the funeral parlour all day in this nasty weather. I'm sure there weren't too many present. Oh I hope I can go tomorrow. My heart will be sick if I can't.
I'm going to shower and get ready for bed... I hope I can sleep.
Night night my friend

These are beautiful! I have collected a few vintage ornaments for my tree too. Looks like you have a few from the 50s too. I am no expert but I found it interesting to know that they are actually dated by the size of the neck. The wider necks were from the 50's. I live in Michigan too. Thanks for sharing your Pink! ~Diane

What a surprise and what a treasure!! I would be thrilled, too, Jeanne!! One of my trees is full of vintage glass ornies like the ones you shared, but sadly, none of them belonged to my family or my hubby's. I had to BUY them at g. sales, flea mkts and ant. shops! :) I started collecting them YEARS ago...long before any one I knew thought they were "neat". When I had enough, I started decorating a special tree each year that was always a real tree, but one on the scrawny side..and I called it my "country living" tree. I now use an artificial, 8' tree...very 'twiggy' looking and I have it full...including a few my mom, kids, sis and I made over the years...plus special ones from friends.
I know you will put them to good use from here on out!
It's gonna warm up to 40 today...then we're supposed to get nailed by another blast of winter. ugh.
Dig out your Snuggie...I'm wrapped in mine right how...Twiggy likes it, too! :) The only thing I don't care for is that it's made in China..... :(
Your recipe on the previous post sounds so yummy!!! You guys eat well in NC!!
Have a HPS!!!

What a lovely gift, and what marvelous memories!! It's slways so wonderful to have a bit of history of anything someone else has loved and used, and these are from your own childhood!
And what a generous, loving sister---it's easy to tell how close your family is, in every post about them.
Stay well and warm, way up there in the mountains,
rachel
