A VERY SPECIAL PHOTO
I have wanted to share this photo for a while now and since I have shared many of my treasures that were given to me by these special women, it is time to share 'them' with you.
My mom also had four brothers but that will be another day.
This photo was taken in 1947 at my Aunt Dorothy's wedding. She is the fourth sister in the photo in the wedding dress. I was 8 years old and remember well that special day 64 years ago. My cousin Bob that is visiting us now, is my Aunt Dorothy's son. He was pretty excited to see this photo of his mother's wedding day.
THE SISTERS...My mother and my very special Aunts.
Sadly, there is only one sister alive from this wonderful loving family. Aunt Shirley is the youngest sister and she is a lively 83 years of age. She is the third sister in this photo in the bridesmaid dress. Close to your age LV. Smile. I can tell you she is not blogging like you are but she is an active antique dealer that sells vintage buttons. Do you remember the buttons Suzanne?
First is Aunt Maudie. She gave me a leasded glass Lamp, a Heisey vase and many other lovely gifts that I treasure. She is the Aunt that had cracker jars all across her kitchen counter like mine. Many of mine were hers that were given to me when ahe passed away. She was like a second mom to me when my mom passed away at 65 of cancer. I loved her dearly.
Second is my mother Mae. She was a lovely women who raised all six of us to love each and our loving family as well as my father's side of our family. She already had six children when this photo was taken. My parents were married 47 years. We lived on the dairy farm where all ten brothers and sisters grew up. Still today, 62 years later, I miss that old farm home and the life we had on the farm. It is still there and it is over 100 years old.
The house is much bigger than it looks. It has 6 bedrooms and the sleeping porch on the front. This is a recent photo. The farm has been sold off for many years. It was 300 acres when we lived there with 4 huge barns and a silo. And...lots of cows that my older sister and I had to bring in for milking every night. The one thing that is missing is the many rose bushes and flowering shurbs around the porch. We also had a lovely goldfish pond in front of the house that my grandfather built for my grandmother. The farm house was built by my grandfather's family and you can see it was built to last.
Fifth in the photo is my Aunt Jean. I was named after her and the sixth Aunt whose first name is Sylva, ( my first name) but she went by her second name, Aunt Lorite. They were all attractive but Aunt Lorite was stunning and beautiful alll of her life. She passed away just last year at age 92. She is the aunt who made the button pins I shared recently.
I hope you don't mind my long post today. This was a post that touches my heart. I was loved by these women and I loved them too. They all were a 'vital' part of my life, even though for most of my life we lived in Florida and they all lived in MI. We moved away from the farm in 1948.
Blessings and love,
JEANNE

Jeanne, I know this is weird, but your post made me cry. I well know about the love you feel for each of these women, and I am grateful to them because they are all part of you. I believe over the years that I met most of them.
Your mother looks so pretty. I see of you and your sisters in her lovely smile. Actually, I see some of all of you in each of them.
You are so very blessed.
I'm off to work. Love you.♥

It touched my heart as well, for seeing the young faces of people who lived such long, happy fruitful lives is a blessing, when you've heard of them only in their later years. They're all such beautiful strong women, as I knew your "stock" would be.
And God Bless Dear Aunt Shirley!! I'll never forget all those lovely buttons, the wonderful art she's made from them, and all the time and talent it took to collect and care for and arrange.
Love you, too, Sweetpea, this soggy rainy morning---I'm being Pollyanna today, just GLAD because it's not freezing on the trees and sidewalks!

How cool is that picture Jeanne? LOVE it, and it reminds me of my mom and all her sisters too. Your Aunt's were all tall, mine were all short, but very classy like yours. It's nice to See Bob's mother in the middle. I bet he was glad to see you feature this photo today.
I know you loved your Aunt's. We've talked about them often. I get them all mixed up, but this gave me a good idea as to who's who.
I miss our FOTO FRIDAY for that reason. I loved seeing all our special pics.
I'm on a slow boat to China today. Sitting here drinking my frappuccino and it's nearly 1pm!!
Seeing little Aubree was magical yesterday. I'm editing some pics right now in a that new program Aperture. Complicated, but I'm getting it.. I think?? I need Julie or Claudia to help me with these ; )
Sunny and bright today, but cold, still cold.
Going to see Sister tomorrow. I'll check and see how many cards she received and will let you know if yours is there.
Happy Thrus. my dearest friend.
