TODAY MY POST IS ALL ABOUT A TABLESCAPE THAT CAN BE CALLED VINTAGE
It was New Years Day and I invited two of my sisters for dinner. It was an intersting day because we celebrated my nephews wedding in the afternoon. All of my sisters were in attendence but each had their own plans after the wedding except my sister Caralie, who is my backyard neighbor and my sister Diane, who was here from Atlanta for the wedding. We decided to pool our food and have dinner together at my house.
First the wedding photo of the newlyweds and the sisters.
Sisters- Caralie, Diane, Nephew - Randy and his bride Jackie - sisters - Carmen, Jane Anne and me (Jeanne)
A lovely wedding but that is another post.
Now for the tablescape
I wanted to be festive so I used the dishes I bought when I was 18 in 1957.
I think it is simple but elegant.
I admit to loving a pretty table and do this for the pure enjoyment and fun of it all.
Thanks mom...she loved setting a pretty table too.
The overview. My table is 9 ft. long and we used half of the table. This is when I wish I had a smaller table.
The Pattern is Spring Time by Hanover china Co.
The goblets and wine glasses are from the 1930's. I bought them at an estate sale.
A simple centerpiece with candles.
The napkins, napkin rings and the placemats are all thrift store purchases. The salt and pepper shakers are a gift from some dear blogging friends for my birthday in October.
My flatware is my everyday set. As you can see my table is very narrow because it is a long harvest table, Perfect for my big family but a bit akward for a table setting for five.
On Friday I will share the food that we prepared for our New Years dinner. We all cooked the meal so it was a lovely New Years dinner with little work.
Happy 2012 to my dear blogging friends
Love,
JEANNE
I like Vintage! The table is lovely! Congrats to the sweet couple!

Jeanne, thoughts of this marriage make me so happy. Randy deserves joy in his life. And, how exciting that they had "the sisters" all there to share in their joy.
And, your table is gorgeous ... !!! You know I adore those dishes. The placemats are fabulous.

You definitely set a table fit for a bride or queen. I love the photo of all your sisters. You are the beat partying lady I ever knew. I just cannot do it anymore.

How fun to enjoy a special meal with sisters after a family wedding! I love your dishes bought "way back when." Aren't you glad you've hung onto them? I still maintain that "vintage" means things created BEFORE I was born. I was most irked when the American Girl doll from "the historic 1970s" was introduced! Weren't the 1970s just a few years ago??

I think you did a perfect job making that long table work for five! You set it so beautifully!!! Your dishes are wonderful, Jeanne, and to think you had such awesome taste at such a young age. Yes, big thanks to your mom for instilling that appreciation for pretty items for a pretty table!!
I just told Beverly I'm taking our live (used to be live) tree down today....taking a lunch break now. I'll haul it to a site where the Boy Scouts recycle them....that way our awesome tree will continue to "give".
It's gonna be 67 today....I'm definitely getting out to run/walk. I hope my body co-operates! :)
Hope you're having a great week. Thanks for your great comment on my post....we are truly kindred spirits.

Your vintage table setting of so pretty Jeanne...love it! I know those dishes hold a lot of sentimental value for you, so wonderful that you have had them all of these years :) Congratulations to your Nephew and his wife...they make a beautiful couple...I know you all had a big time at the wedding!
Happy New Year!
