A very happy hello to all of you Pinkies out there in blogland. Beverly is our wonderful hostess and she is the reason we have so much fun on Pink Saturday. Be sure and visit the wonderful pink posts that we all share on this Pink day.
WE ARE CELEBRATING A VERY SPECIAL DAY
TODAY WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED 49 YEARS.
OUR WEDDING
. We did not have much money and I only have snapshots to share. They are in bad condition but they still tell the story.
My dress was pink.
The over skirt was worn during the ceremony and reception and removed for my going away dress.
I kept everything except the faux bouquet and the pearls were double stranded. I had real roses.
Bill looks so serious. Our friends were snapping photos and you will see black and white and color too.
The 'kiss' My hubby's favorite thing to do. He put my ring on the wrong hand. HA! Are we really married?
The reception was in the church hall. My dress is pink lace and I saved it for our fiftith anniversary to display. I decided to share it today because the future is unknown. HA! Lord knows I can't fit into it now. I'm holding a punch cup???
Cake cutting. Bill is nervous. My colors were pink and white. I made the "grooms cake" on the left. Chocolate, Bill's favorite.
My parents on the left and the flower girls. The little blond is my daughter at 4 years of age. Bill took on a divorced woman and two small children. He was and still is my hero. I also had a two year old boy. The other little girl is the daughter of a dear friend.
OUR FIRST ARGUMENT
Bill was in college when we were married. His sister was too and she lived with us to save money. We were sitting at the kitchen table eating supper, which happened to be soup. I made a comment about an event and Bill said I was wrong. Knowing I WAS right I told him he was wrong. This went back and forth a few times and I got mad and told him if he didn't let it go I was going to throw my soup at him. His sister laughed but I was dead serious. Of course he said it one more time and the soup flew in his direction. I ran from the kitchen to our bedroom and locked the door. He followed me and when he discovered I locked the door he put his shoulder to the door and it fell open on to the floor. We were both so shocked that we cracked up laughing. We have seriously laughed about that over the years. I have never thrown anything since. HA! I wish it was true but I have been known to throw cards. In my defense, I was pregnant when I did that. Bill and our card buddies have never let me forget it either. Sigh!
Five years later. The little ones are three, 19 months and six months old. Bill adopted Brett and Andrea by then. We took lots of kidding over three babies in three years. "Kissing" is the reason. HA!
Ten years later. Our family was growing up. This photo was taken in our living room. I papered the accent wall behind us. I loved that mural so much. Almost as much as my darling family. HA!
Twenty five years later... All of our children which included fifty family members and friends joined us on our 25th anniversary cruise. We had the time of our lives.
Thirty five years later...on a cruise to Alaska.
Forty nine years later,..we are still doing this!
Forty nine years later...our 'kiss' created this. (our two oldest grandsons are missing from this photo)
Happy, happy, happy anniversary. I love you both very much. But, you don't have anyone fooled with the kissing. There has been a whole lot of "something other than kissing" going on.
You started sharing that laughter many years ago, and it is still working for you. Lord knows you both have made me laugh many times during our friendship.
Happy Pink Saturday to my dearest friend and her fellow.♥♥♥
And, wow! John and Bill look so much alike in the "younger" photos.

Your dress was beautiful and you're both darling, sweetpea! I doubt that I would have ever thrown soup at hubs but I've felt like it many times. We've been married 51 yeas and argue all the time!!! I'm serious. It's what has kept us together I think. Love him madly though....
xoxo,
Connie

Happy anniversary to you both. It really shows you not only had the sense to choose your soul mate, but good taste in choosing the color of your dress as well. Seriously congrats to you and your entire family. Forty nine years and counting. What a great blessing.

Ohhh---that's the most beautifully romantic thing I've read in ages!! It's a wonderful story to pass down, especially with thoseictures. And such a beautiful family---as I always mention.
I, too, had three babies within thirty-four MONTHS. Every year when the youngest catches up on her birthday, they're a year apart in age, at least til the oldest has his birthday.
Congratulations to you two Love Birds!!

Oh lordy Jeanne...this is my favorite post you have ever, ever done! What a love story. I adore your dress which is beyond gorgeous. That could have been our wedding which also took place 47!!!! years ago this month with a church hall reception with cake and punch. And I have only a few grainy photos! And - I'm glad to hear you had a big fight! We had a few and I know exactly how the biggest argument can end in fits of laughter. Guess we didn't kiss as much as you guys because we only had two kids. And now I wish I had a passel of them like you! Happy Anniversary to you and the kisser. You look gorgeous now and 49 years ago. xoxo Nancy

Your big family did not come from a kiss. I loved hearing and seeing a part of your 49 years. Time really does change us all. Best wishes to a special friend and her family for more happy, blessed years.

Jeanne....that is the most amazing love story. I recall you sharing some bits and pieces of it with me before...pretty sure it was when you were visiting here in KC...however, I don't recall the "first fight" or "flight" of the soup, that is!!! I just remember something about paint and driving..... but I don't think that had anything to do with the wedding! :)
Anyway, I can identify in so many ways, since we've been married almost 44 years...the no money, the married and going to school part....and our wedding. Also, no professional photos....and we had cake and punch and mints and nuts..in the basement of the church! :) Maybe that's the secret to our long marriages....so much less in the area of expecting the perfect wedding, but more in the area of finding the perfect mates!! I think Nancy said once...it was more about the marriage than the ceremony back in those days.
I recall you sharing that amazing dress on an earlier post...it was wonderful ....and you looked like a million dollars in it. I have to think Bill was walking on clouds when he found you and the beginning of his "brood". What a blessing you have both been for each other.
Happy Anniversary, Jeanne and Bill!! Love this post so very much!!

I had to read all the comments first.
Happy 49th Birthday? Lol
Happy 49th dear Beverly and hubby? Lol.
I know I'm being silly.
Bill put the ring on the wrong hand cuz he was so darn nervous knowing that he just married the prettiest girl in town!!
1963 was indeed a great year. Let's see I was... 12?
How come Bill had a groom cake? Is that trading in the South??
You never told me about the "soup". You told me about the " kiss" but not the soup. I'm still laughing. I can hear Bill saying " I'm right Jeanne". Lol.
Oh ! And BTW, was there alcohol in that glass of punch? If so I think Bill should have had a few. He looks like he needed it.
Kissing my A-- You would have had the kissing disease by them with all those wee babies.
Look how B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L you are?? OMG and after all those babies. HOT MAMA.
You papered that wall? Looks like a scene from Roman Holiday. Nicer than you'r family? I think not.
20 yrs later Claudie has her first baby Brittany.
25 yrs later you cruise right by my family to Alaska from Vancouver right?? Julie was there too.
Wait what happened in between then and now??? You skipped some stuff. Did you think it would make for a " Jeanne" story? Nice and long??? Lol lol.
Oh I just LOVE your LOVE story, but I don't buy the kissing part.
Hey do you think I've fit into that pretty pink dress for my 25th next year?? I'm looking for something vintage. Wink wink.
It just hit me. We saw your prom dress when we were at your house with CC, not your wedding dress. Silly me.
Well I've written enough wow.
I'm glad Beverly featured you and Bill today. How lovely to see your PINK dress on PINK SATURDAY.
GOOD NIGHT MY DEAR JEANNE.
LYTTMAB
Always

PS I'm not proof reading this. My eyes hurt.

What fun to read and see your delightful family memories down thru the years. And what a handsome hubby along with such sweet kids and grandkids! I really liked that cute wedding dress - how lovely AND practical. And so nice to see someone else went with punch and cake for the reception - we did too, 10 years after you. Much easier and wiser on a beginning budget, that's for sure. Thanks again for such a sweet Pink Saturday visit.

Jeanne, I'm so happy to meet your whole family. What a touching love story--he knew a catch of a girl and the two little ones to boot when he saw one. Your family pictures are so neat, love seeing how the children all grew up. The family picture of what you have created is so special--what a gorgeous family.

Wow! That is a fascinating story. What a georgous woman. No wonder Bill fell head over heals. I love the soup story. What type of soup was it? Just kidding.
49 years. That's quite a romance novel. I wish you both all the best and want more soup stories on your 50th.
Cheers, Randy (you remember, I'm the quiet one behind Claudie)

Awww happy anniversary to both, next year, you guys are golden! You bring inspiration to couples out there. I think that material things affects marriages nowadays, so you guys started the marriage with the the main essence, the love for each other.

Oh my sweet Jeanne....I LOVED THIS. It brought a tear to my eye. Especially since I "know" a little about your history (from out talks this past summer)
YOU......were always beautiful. You have not changed a bit, only become more beautiful I think. I know Bill adores you. What a blessing he was in your life eh.
Kissing brings forth children???......um, I thought it involved a little something else. (tee, hee)
You are a doll and what a wonderful celebration of LOVE this is for you two.
I loved every single picture !!!!!!!!!!!
Did I say "love" enough.

Your wedding looked so much like ours. No money for photographers, no flowers....my dress was made by my mother and it was blue. Our reception was at her house and a friend made our cake.
I enjoyed seeing ya'll thru the years. :))
