Welcome to Alpine Helen & White County, Georgia
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900s. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers. We've got shopping, camping, both rustic and luxury mountain cabins, restaurants, bed and breakfast inns, mountains, theater, recreation, romantic getaways, beautiful scenery, family activities, waterfalls, museums, history, art, fishing, tubing, golf, and more. Something for every member of the family.
While we were camping we took a day to visit the Alpine town of Helen, GA. I am sharing a couple of photos that show how charming this town is in a very quaint way. We shopped and enjoyed buying great fudge and having an ice cream treat. The town takes great pride in their beautiful town with lovely flowers and the many fun activities that are offered to one and all who are fortunate enough to visit there.
This was taken on my daughters I phone. The waterfall was stunning in person.
Another I Phone photo from our dtrs. phone.
This photo was taken from Google
Another google photo.
Tubing in Helen looked like a grand time in the mountain stream.
German food is also available and delicious as well.
Happy Blue Monday
Love,
JEANNE
Happy Birthday to your daughter! I have never been to Helen but I heard it was a great place.

Looks like she had a great birthday, beautiful smile ! ... and Jeanne, my oldest was 46 on the 8th. I keep saying I do not know when my children became older than I am but it sure happened quickly ... :)
Helen is a great place to visit, maybe even to live. I'd like to move to North Georgia, maybe someday.

Happy Birthday to Diana!
Don't cell phones make a wonderful camera? Johnny and I went to Helen, GA once; we enjoyed the time spent there. I love your blues; thanks for sharing.
Happy Blue Monday, Jeanne.

Innertubing!! We used to go on Sundays down the Guadalupe when I'd visit Sis in San Antonio---though our plain old black tubes were nothing like those snazzy pink and green numbers. It was several miles (fording in places, so I always wore rubber sandals) and it was fun to just float up to folks, hook a foot into their boat, and chat a bit---we'd gather great flotillas of ten or twelve tubes, and folks up and down the river would be out selling bottled water and even sausages-on-sticks, right off their grills.
Oh, my. I was way younger then.

Thank you for sharing some of the great things you found while roaming the countryside. I love these shots. We used to travel a lot, but I do not do long trips anymore.
