TIE DYE FUN FOR MY GRANDS
Most of you know our grands were here for a week and they all left today. Silence is golden and if you have a bunch of grands you know what I mean. We had the best time on Friday tie dying Tshirts. It is kind of a tradition and this year's "tie dye" was especially fun. I didn't get a photo with everyone wearing their shirts because they didn't have time to all put them on at the same time. Sigh!
Anyway, there was quite a variety of colors and blue is one of them. I hung them on my entertainment center so I could take a photo for Blue Monday. Not a great photo...I was tired. Imagine that with 11 people to feed three times a day. HA!
Some closeups. Kind of cool aren't they. My daughters helped the grands get ideas for the dye process. I have no idea how to achieve such designs as these but I think they look awesome.
The swirl pattern was popular. This is a great blue.
Lots of folding and rubberbands are needed for the designs.
They did some neck/head scarves too.
This one had blue in it and I think it is so pretty.
One of my grandsons put his shirt on for a photo to please me.
This is Caleb .He is 15, plays the piano and is a very good student.
Thank you for posing Caleb.
Happy Blue Monday
Love,
JEANNE

I don't know how you do it. Yes, I realize that it's a wonderful tradition, and that you're making memories, but feeding that army! It'd take me a month to recover. LOL
My daughter's children love to tie-dye. Maybe they can join you next summer!
Happy Blue Monday, Jeanne.

Ooooh, puhleeeeeze, tell me this trend isn't starting again, sugar!! I remember it from Berkeley in the 70s when we lived near there. I thought it had died an ignoble death. Please tell me it's so!!!

That's MY kinda gathering!! We've had only four at a time this Summer, but when the oldest is 13 and the youngest two are four, well, that evens up the busy factor. But ELEVEN! There's not that much cereal in Michigan.
What a lovely gallery, and what a time that must have been---the dyeing WAS done outdoors, wasn't it? I think I'd have taken them to the creek right AFTER the last shirt was done. And so many colors and patterns, just like the personalities of all the GRANDS---no two alike, and every one a blessing.
Hope you're staying cool---I KNOW you're resting.
I'd still be doing dishes and getting beds to rights NEXT Monday!
love,
rachel

You never told me about that one Jeanne. WOW. I can just imagine all of them in those shirts. Of course I had one or two of them in my closet. My mom would never let me tie dye them at our house *clean freak, so we had to do it at my gf's house. It was fun and messy, but loved the way they turned out.
On my way to the court house to hand in more petitions. It's beautiful out. Randy is down for a nap, and so is Colt. It's just one of those days. I hope you are having some down time now that the house is quiet ; )
I'm keeping up with you.

My husband, who is 60, and an aging hippie, has one of the spiral design t-shirts, but won't wear it outside the house....what's wrong with him? they are a wonderful fashion statement....love the scarf...

HI Jeanne! Wow! These tie dyes are gorgeous and this is a tradition? Oh, I'm sure lots of fun was going on. I knew you were busy and enjoyed your family so much. But I'm glad you can sit down and rest! You must have done lots of cooking but with all of that family with you, hopefully you had some help! :) Look at your handsome grand! What a blessed lady you are. Enjoy your quiet and your beautiful view! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Jeanne..those shirts/bandanas are wonderful. What a great idea and I'm certain your grands loved creating them as a wonderful connection to the great time they had at your home this summer!!
Again...you are one go-getter!! We're gearing up to watch the kiddos tonight......I've got to take a nap first!! :)
Gotta run so I can mop the wood floors. The smallest grand is crawling now....don't want his little knees and socks to look too bad when he heads home!
