PINK SATURDAY
*************************************
HOW TO SET A NINE FOOT TABLE FOR FOUR
It is a challenge
This Christmas Day we had two people for Christmas dinner.
Not the usual big crowd for Christmas dinner, but I did my best.
I used my pink Christmas tree dishes.
Please note: The Christmas napkins are folded into a pink tree.
Thank you Utube for a 'how to' video
I call this "Simple Elegence"
Our Christmas village is showing off in the background.
The pink candle rings were a gift years ago, from my Aunt Shirley.
I am sharing my cranberry salad. It is delicious. The recipe was given to me by my dear friend of 44 years. You all know her as Beverly, the Host of Pink Saturday.
Beverly is the reason I have a Blog.
Thank you Beverly.
My pink Santa had to be included with my Christmas tablescape. The salt and pepper snowmen were a gift from my sister Caralie. Caralie and her Bill were our guests for Christmas dinner. Caralie is my backyard neighbor and the reason I named my Blog "Backyard Neighbor"
My sister Caralie made this bread from a recipe she was given when she stayed a month in a villege in France. You could say this is 'French bread.' It s a sweet tasting bread that melts in your mouth.
This is my recipe for what my friends call, "Jeanne's pink fluff." My grands call it, "Grandma's Pink Glop."
The rest of our menu was...
Cornish Game Hens
Baked sweet potatoes
Cranberry stuffing
Roasted green beans
Sour cream raisin pie
Pumpkin pie
All in all it was a wonderful meal with a family gathering of four.
The smallest group I have ever had for Christmas dinner.
Most of our children were here for Thanksgiving. A small group of 21.
We are blessed.
Blessings and love,
JEANNE
Looks like you had a great time, Jeanne...your decorations are beautiful.

Merry Christmas, Jeanne!
We had a small, romantic Christmas for two as Mr. Magpie and I opted out of our normal activities because he had to work Christmas Eve till late, and I am still recuperating (getting my strength back) from Shingles. But it was actually very restful and nice. I love the hoopla, too, but like you, I always try to be grateful for all those who love us and all who came before and those who are still to come. :-)
As crazy as this year has been, we have been blessed with three new little family members (two cousins and a niece), a new nephew who married my niece in NC, and the joy of the Lord.
I want to know what goes in the pink glop. Or is that secret??? All of it looked yummy, Beverly's recipe, too!
Love,
Sheila :-)
