SKIING IN BOONE, NORTH CAROLINA
Our youngest three children and six of our grands went on a skiing holiday together. They drove to Boone, NC where our granddaughter Molly is in her freshman year at Appalachian State College. They skied and snowboarded at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. They also took time to go snow tubing. Some of them posted a few photos on their FB. I lifted some of their photos to share on Blue Monday.
For many years as our children were growing up we went skiing on our annual vacations in Colorado and West Virginia. You could say skiing was in our genes. We all loved the sport and as the years passed by our grandchildren are carrying on the tradition. The last time I skied a few years ago I was in my sixties and because of my age I skied for free. Oh happy day. 'Sadly,' knee replacements and age tells us it is to risky to ski anymore.
So, we are enjoying and sharing photos of our family carrying on our favorite sport with you today.

Four of our grands with their snowboards
Jacob, Roxie, Roger and Molly.
Our granddaughter Ashley with her mom Diana.
Note: Ashley has dyed her gorgeous natural blonde hair 'blue.' Her UF college colors are orange and blue. Our daughter has her UF ski hat on. Go Gators!
Our granddaughter Molly with her brother Jacob having fun on the slopes.
Our granddaughter Roxie on a ski lift.
Our son John
Our grandson Cody.
The only one missing in this group of photos is our daughter Christina... Cody's mom.
She is the second person from the left in the photo below.
I did find a throwback photo of one of our family ski trips out west many years ago.
A great memory.
Bill and I with three of our children and their spouses in Park City Utah.
Time for bed, I hope I dream of skiing.
Happy Blue Monday
Blessings and love,
JEANNE
I hope I haven't woken you from your snow dreams?! How wonderful that your family are so into skiing and are continuing to love having skiing holidays together. I love that family photo of you all!
Have a great week - I hope you're not too cross with me I've sent Summer on her way to you?!

Hi Jeanne,
What a lovely family you have! Johnny and I have been to Boone twice. We stayed in a log cabin and could see Chimney Rock from the yard!
Bloomingdale's commissioned the designer to create these dresses. They were never meant to wear. Thanks for making Blue Monday special.
Happy Blue Monday!

Jeanne, looks like you were all having a wonderful time. My nephew is in sales with the Montage Resort in Park City and loves it there.

I hope you did---flying down a long smooth curvy slope, the wind in your face and the shsssssssssssss of the skis the only music you need. I've dreamt of it, as well, but only from imagination, for my nearest experience was on UNFROZEN snow---on hot Summer days at one of the several lakes around home or college, with the scent of Coppertone and wet swimsuits and the sun beating down on my flying hair. The sound of the skis slicing the water and the roar of a mighty Evinrude ahead were my music. What similar, yet worlds apart, memories.
And did you and Bill start out skiing together, and then the kids, or did you learn the sports which interest your children, as you ferry them from game to game, place to place? What a lovely weekend---I was just the other day imagining a ski lodge and fire and damp folks tramping in, all rosy cheeks and chatter and cocoa cups abounding.
We have enough snow in our backyard to fill a nice steep run or two, right now.
love and,

I loved skiing when I was younger. We always skied at Monarch. A few years ago we were visiting Hannah's old beau Markus at Western State in Gunnison and we stopped in Salida for lunch. A gentleman working there told me they still rely on fresh snow and do not manufacture snow like other resorts do. That artificial snow is what causes so many injuries. It creates too much ice on the surface. I loved Monarch but my knees would not hold up today! LOL! That is what did my girlfriend in a few years ago. But I have a friend who lives in Alaska and she still skies and looks youthful! She has had multiple marriages, at least five or six, but no kids! I will take my wrinkles and crinkles any day. I love my PHAMILY too just like you! Your grands are beautiful and so are your children. Good genes Jeanne!

What great pictures, Jeanne!
I haven't gone skiing in about 12 years. No other reason than I just haven't had the time. I miss it!
